SDC has been supporting HMRP since 1999. HMRP had very encouraging achievements in the first three phases, such as: i) setting of the maize research priorities, establishing participatory variety selection, validation and certification methodologies, linking research with extension for wider dissemination, ii) certification of nine improved varieties and production of 4,416 MT of improved maize seeds, and iii) linking farmer’s feedback to policy decisions through farmer’s assessment tests over released varieties. HMRP has contributed to establishing a national research system, linking research with extension and strengthening farmers’ groups to produce maize seeds and deal with markets for better and assured prices. This fourth phase will focus on strengthening seeds dissemination channels, developing market links, ensuring the decentralized seed quality assurance system and developing more new maize varieties as the demand remains high.

UN Women´s Women´s Economic Empowerment project aims to enhance the economic situation of especially the most poorest groups of Nepalese women. The participation of Nepalese women in the advancement of the national economy is limited due to insufficient economic resources and low level of education. The project builds up the capacity of the Government of Nepal to follow the conditions of equality in its economic policy both at national and provincial level. The Government has taken a number of action plans and policies designed to promote the realization of public health, education and food security. The project trains people who work with women suffered from violence. The aim is to train doctors, lawyers, police officers, and human rights activists, so that they can better work to promote rights of the women, victims of violence. Violence against wome n in Nepal is a widespread problem, to which the authorities do not interfere with the necessary severity - at least on a practical level. For example, Amnesty International recently reported that the police authorities in cases of violence against women t ake more the side of the guilty than the victim's side. Domestic violence is seen as a private matter for families and abused women rarely even seek help for the known obstacles. Lawyers often do not like to assume responsibility for cases of violence agai nst women-related, and when the evidence has not been adequately documented, the victims are virtually impossible to get justice. The main objective is to promote rights of the women, victims of violence. The aim is to guarantee access to the relevant serv ices, and to increase the capacity service providers and the authorities, so that women's rights are better met. The beneficiaries are the authorities participating in the project. The project also offers support to 50 women suffered from violence and info rms women about the services for victims of violences. The project is implemented in the Kavre county. CVICT was founded and registered as an NGO in 1990 and was originally used by volunteers for Victims of Torture in Kathmandu. Organization's founders wer e doctors, social workers and nurses. CVICTin focuses on increasing rehabilitation of torture victims and prevention of torture. Women are often victims of the discrimination. Living in remote rural areas, women's rights are often unsatisfactory. The reasons for the unequal situation can be found in cultural, economic and political factors. Nepal's judicial system is relatively slow and inefficient. Statistics shows that more than 60% of the children in community schools of Kathmandu are child domestic workers and those in Kabhre one of the major supply side are vulnerable to separation. Making the education system child friendly and improving the quality of education helps to secure children?s right to protection and education as funda mental aspects of child right. The overall objective of the project is promoting child friendly schooling and enhancing quality education in four districts of Nepal: Kathmandu Bhaktapur Lalitpur and Kabhre. The project will promote previously formed struct ures; however reformation will be done to revitalize the community structures and mechanisms as per need.The project works to promote right to protection of the children in community school of Kathmandu and Kabhre districts. Poor women from deprived communities are not in a position to access loan from banks or other financial institutions or financial service providers due to lack of physical collateral. The poor, indigenous women and girls are exploited from various forms of discrimination. Therefore there is a comprehensive need to build the capacity of deprived poor women to increase their access to financial capital with low interest rate. The local government bodies have not fully owned and realised the importance of wome n’s participation in planning process and providing justifiable share of resources to the women in their location. Strengthening cooperatives and their linkages with local bodies, including Ward Citizen Forum and Citizen Awareness Centre (CAC) are requir ed to increase women’s access to resources and services. Most of the women still lack legal ownership of their land. Cooperatives still lack adequate knowledge and skills to develop strong linkages with market actors for enterprise development. Lack of v ocational skill training and micro entrepreneurship skills among women and out of school youth girls, denial of women to property rights, gender based discrimination and women’s right violation justify the need to implement this project in Lalitpur distr ict of Nepal. The overall objective of the project is to improve women’s economic and socio-cultural status. The specific objective is to develop and strengthen women-led local institutions for promoting economic, social and cultural rights of poor and m arginalised women communities in Lalitpur. The project reduces child poverty and the use of child labor. It increases the number of children regularly attending school and improves child well-being in Sindhupalchowk and Kavre Districts. Children below 18 years of age constitute 42 % of the total po pulation of Nepal and more than a third of Nepalese children live below the national poverty line. Many of them suffer from severe malnutrition. Around 10 % of children do not have access to schooling and about 40 % of children between 5-17 years of age ar e working. The project improves access to social protection schemes by children and poor households. As a result of this project, children’s nutritional status improves and an increasing number of them attend school. The beneficiaries of this project are the most vulnerable children and their families. Although Nepal has made tremendous progress on educational attainment lately the hard to reach group children in the project location villages of Gimdi Asrang and Thuladurlung of Lalitpur district are out of school the drop-out rate is high and the quality of education and school management is not satisfactory. Effective management of school and education is seriously problematic highly centralized and with inadequate local ownership. Besides many community schools have become hotbeds of corruption with loc al leaders fighting for the appointment of teachers and resources. The overall development objective is to attain improved status of education and literacy in project locations through efficient education governance in active engagement of community local government and participation of children. Immediate objectives of the project are enhanced engagement of local governments in education planning and interventions; improved access to school management and quality of education with capacitated accountable a nd democratic School Management Committees (SMC); and increased engagement of parents community and children in educational planning and implementation.The project will enhance the right to quality education for easily marginalized groups such as dalit and tamang (or janajati) children. Inclusive education is promoted to children with disabilities. These actions contribute also to reduction of inequalities. Majority of the target group children are girls and therefore special attention is paid to consider g ender equality in all activities. Climate sustainability is also taken into account in awareness raising campaigns conducted by child clubs.The project has a comprehensive target group who are key actors on changing school and education environment. It inc ludes the 4100 target children and their parents policy makers civil society actors media schoolteachers SMCs Parents Teachers Association (PTA) members and education officials. These groups are reached through different interventions; such as capacity bui lding collaborative consultations with responsible authorities along with wider awareness campaigns and mass mobilizations. Out of this ? 11.5 million has been allocated to finance the integration of Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) into primary and secondary education. Additional to that there is an allocation of ? 1.6 million for development and piloting TEVT soft skills in school education.The overall objective is to contribute to enhancing quality and relevance of general education by introducing TEVT soft skills (vocationally oriented skills) in school system in order to improve employability of students and to meet the demands of labor market. The objective has been discussed with all major stakeholders and has been found to be relevant. No changes are required to the overall objective. The purpo se of the Technical Assistance is to support the Ministry of Education in implementing the TEVT (Soft Skills) component of the SSRP that is operationalized in Annual Strategic Implementation Plans (ASIP) of each year.

Interpedia ry and Loo Niva Child Concern have previously partnered in Far West Nepal with projects in 2012-2014 and 2015-2017. The Concern for Education -projects have supported children?s right to access to free quality education in rural Far-West Dadeldh ura area. Dadeldhura is one of the less developed areas in Nepal where vulnerable groups such as girls ethnic minorities and Dalits (the lower caste) still face discrimination and have lower accessibility to education. The projects have successfully manage d to improve the status of basic education by training and sensitizing children parents teacher and local authorities for their role in promoting the Right to Education; by establishing children?s groups for strengthening children?s active participation in society; supporting local Concern for Education- and Education Watch Groups in supervising and promoting quality education and using local and social medium for raising awareness about education and good educational practices. The projects have aimed at m aking schools as No Politics Zones supporting peaceceful education fulfillment of child rights and avoiding misuse of schools as an instrument of political targets and conflicts.For ensuring that the good practices that have been developed and introduced d uring the previous phase can be spread the next phase of the project will focus even more on promoting basic and primary level education in Dadeldhura area with effective engagement of local actors of civil society. After the new constitution in September 2015 NGOs and civil society have a significant opportunity to strengthen their role in policy-making as well as to advance the democratization process in Nepal. Due to that training and empowering local communities will be important parts of promoting educ ation during forthcoming years. Trained local communities will also ensure sustainable redistribution of roles and responsibilities of improving the right to education as well as new ways to finance education promotion activities after the inputs from Loo Niva. The project balances direct project interventions and advocacy work with a clear geographicacal focus in the remote Far West area.
