The Power Plant Extension of SCECO will improve daily living condition and enhance economic opportunities by providing uninterrupted hydro-power supply to 1’400 customers, and get up to 500 new connections to the local power grid, in the area of Salleri/Garma/Phalpu (HDI 0.45-0.50). Additionally, it will mitigate uncontrolled deforestation by reducing the use of firewood for cooking, heating and lighting purposes, in an area (lying between 2400 – 3000m alt.) where forest regeneration is slow. The project will thus enhance the sustainable use of local water resources while contributing to the maintenance of resilience to climate change at the local level.

People with disabilities experience in Nepal many forms of discrimination; Society's attitudes make it difficult to equal life, but also the institutional structures such as legislation and policy guidelines are often discriminatory towards people with dis abilities. In addition to physical barriers, such as challenging routes may prevent people with disabilities from access to legitimate services. For those circumstances the disabled children are less attending the school than others. The project’s goal i s to bring people with disabilities at the center of social development by promoting their human rights. The project aims to empower people with disabilities not only to demand their rights, but also to increase the awareness of the rights of disabled peop le. In addition, the project seeks to influence political decision-makers, in order to the disabled people's rights be noted and the laws to be implemented. The project trains the members of the community and disability activists about human rights, partic ularly about the rights of people with disabilities. In addition, there will be held discussions with representatives of the local district government, as well as eight events at the national level with policy makers in Kathmandu. CIL - Kathmandu began its work among disabled people's rights in 2005 and was officially registered in the following year. The organization 's name refers to the rights of the people with disabilities to make decisions and to get services that society should provide. The organizat ion makes right -based work wirh issues considering people with disabilities and its primary activities include advocacy and inclusion of people with disabilities in political decision-making. The organization also provides advicing and training on issues related to persons with disabilities and informs the rights of disabled people . CIL – Kathmandu’s advocacy, together with some other organizations, has impacted on, that several ministries are now accessible communicated.

The specific human rights concerns of Dalit advocated and lobbied with the delegates of different countries during UPR of Nepal in October / November 2015.The project will carry out a quick research on the implementation status of UPR recommendations in Nepal, Regional level consultation workshop will be organized at Nepalganj, Chitwan and Itahari, National level consultation workshop will be held at Kathmandu. Advocacy and lobbying w ill be carried out with international governments through embassies in Kathmandu, Advocacy and lobbying will be done to the government of Nepal for recommendation involving media houses. Lobbying to the HRC members and other state representatives during i nteractive dialogue session will be carried out.

The Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads of the Ministry of Local Development (DoLIDAR/MoLD) is responsible for construction and maintenance of motorable bridges in addition to local roads but it has limited capacity to shoulder this responsibility. DoLIDAR is desirous of a) developing norms and standards appropriate to local roads and b) strengthening its capacities as well as that of the private sector so that these pilots can be replicated. The UN Women implemented project Advancing Resilience and Empowerment ARE is part of the annual work plan for the year 2017 of UN Women's Nepal Country Office. The project is being implemented in the course of 2017 and its total budget is 400.000 EUR. The ARE project is divided into two result areas. The first result area aims to strengthen the capacity of duty bearers (authorities and government) to integrate gender equality objectives into policies and plans. The project provides technical expertise in su pport of drafting Nepal's second NAP and key national legislation with relevance for advancing gender equality obligations enshrined in the constitution. The project also provides technical support to mainstream gender equality and social inclusion objecti ves into post-earthquake reconstruction planning. The second result area focuses on strengthening the ability of excluded women's groups for economic and social participation. The beneficiaries are provided with vocational and entrepreneurship training as well as counseling in disaster preparedness training and humanitarian crisis management. As for the first results area the activities benefit the entire country as the focus is on national level plans and policies. The second results area focuses on 1600 b eneficiaries comprised of girls and women from crisis affected or marginalized groups.The ARE project is a continuation of the Finnish-funded SIWPSAN project which supported the drafting and implementation of Nepal's first National Action Plan on UN securi ty council resolutions 1325 and 1820. The project is currently being evaluated and the results are very promising; some of the targets have even been exceeded. The Ministry for Women Children and Social Welfare and the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction has taken up the project activities as best practices in the implementing the National Action Plans.

Switzerland is recognizing the importance of high quality vegetable seed production through the promotion of private-public partnership among producer cooperatives, NGOs and private seed entrepreneurs in the seed sector. Producing seeds through farmers groups and cooperatives has been a successful approach, which allows a sustainable national seed production. The goal of VSP-III is “to have improved food security and income for the poor and disadvantaged households in remote areas of Nepal”. VSP-III will have two major focuses: 1) farm families from poor and DAGs produce and sell quality seeds; and 2) National Seed Board, Nepal Agriculture Research Council and Department of Agriculture enforce decentralised seed production and quality control through public and private institutions. VSP has proven synergies with other SDC supported agricultural projects, such as the Hill Maize Research Project in promoting seed related market and policy issues and the Home garden project in promoting diversification of vegetable production.
