Strengthening national capacity to improve the protection, monitoring and sustainable management of the World Heritage properties, in particular, to help recover Nepal's cultural heritage affected by the 2015 earthquakes

Nepal's aim to build back better by restoring the cultural heritage damaged by the 2015 earthquake will require sustained efforts, both in terms of capacity enhancement and improved procedures, tools, and mechanism in place. The Office's implementation modality will be, in line with the regional priorities of culture sector and Nepal's national priority, through policy advice, advocacy, fund-raising, coordination, capacity building programmes for government and non-governmental stakeholders and members of the local communities, both men and women, including youth and pilot projects, in particular at the country's four World Heritage properties, Lumbini the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the Kathmandu Valley, as well as the National Parks of Chitwan and Sagarmatha.
