F.a: Human Rights Education for Promoting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

People with disabilities experience in Nepal many forms of discrimination; Society's attitudes make it difficult to equal life, but also the institutional structures such as legislation and policy guidelines are often discriminatory towards people with dis abilities. In addition to physical barriers, such as challenging routes may prevent people with disabilities from access to legitimate services. For those circumstances the disabled children are less attending the school than others. The project’s goal i s to bring people with disabilities at the center of social development by promoting their human rights. The project aims to empower people with disabilities not only to demand their rights, but also to increase the awareness of the rights of disabled peop le. In addition, the project seeks to influence political decision-makers, in order to the disabled people's rights be noted and the laws to be implemented. The project trains the members of the community and disability activists about human rights, partic ularly about the rights of people with disabilities. In addition, there will be held discussions with representatives of the local district government, as well as eight events at the national level with policy makers in Kathmandu. CIL - Kathmandu began its work among disabled people's rights in 2005 and was officially registered in the following year. The organization 's name refers to the rights of the people with disabilities to make decisions and to get services that society should provide. The organiza tion makes right -based work wirh issues considering people with disabilities and its primary activities include advocacy and inclusion of people with disabilities in political decision-making. The organization also provides advicing and training on issues related to persons with disabilities and informs the rights of disabled people . CIL – Kathmandu’s advocacy, together with some other organizations, has impacted on, that several ministries are now accessible communicated.
