Enhancing Livelihoods of Smallholder farmers in Central Terai Districts of Nepal (ELIVES)
Elives project is implemented in Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Mahottari districts. These districts rank lowly in the overall Human Development Index (HDI) as well as in Human Poverty Index (HPI). In spite of potential in goat and vegetable sub-sectors, productivity remain low in these districts. Private sector service providers are largely absent outside of the district head quarters and towns making it practically impossible for poor households to take advantage of commercial agricultural opportunities. There are weak links with key value chain actors, such as input suppliers, service providers and output buyers. Smallholder farmers are unable to make informed decisions due to lack of information on technology and markets. Project interventions will support government's effort to reach to smallholder farmers in commercial livestock and agricultural development through local capacity building and strengthening market linkages.;

1. Project: 12261 Advocating for consolidation of Equality and Non-discrimination for Sustainable Peace (ENDS) Action in Nepal. 2. Project area and Country: Mahottari and Dhanusha district, Nepal 3. Project justification: Caste, gender and disability based inequalities and poverty are key problems that right holders have been facing. The situation has affected the right holders to realize their human rights such as economic rights, participation rights, right to dignified life, guaranteed by the national and international legal frameworks. There is lack of strong network of right holders in the project area to support them to identify areas of their right violation and effectively advocate their social and economic empowerment issues towards the government agencies. The Social norms and values have strong impact to create social and economic strata and structural poverty. 4. The main objective and the expected results: Enhanced socio-economic status of marginalized youth and women in Danusha and Mahattori district of Madesh Province. 5. Right-holders/beneficiaries: Right holders will include ethnic minority groups, youth, women, adolescent girls, women survivors of GBV, persons with disabilities, single women. This will be decided together with project document finalization. Duty bearers: Municipalities/Rural municipalities, Poverty and Cooperative section, DRR section and education section of municipal unit. 6. Implementing partner: Ratauli Youth Club (RYC) 7. Change The Game Academy Nepal
Nepal Change the Game Academy Consortium (NCC) started its work in Nepal from November 2018. NCC consisted of the consortium of CSRC, ICCO Cooperation, Sahakarmi Samaj and Tewa. NCC was responsible for organizing a series of Change the Game Academy (CtgA) training in Nepal with the support from Wilde Ganzen. In the consortium, ICCO Nepal played a coordinating role to plan, implement and monitor the project. In December, 2018 ICCO Cooperation coordinated the Training of Trainers events for local civil society organizations with the help of Wilde Ganzen, MDF and Change the Game Academy. 12 A level trainers from Consortium participated in the training. Participants from India and Kenya were also there in the training program. The fundraising session was facilitated by Ger Robeling and Manju. Similarly, mobilizing support was facilitated by Ewoud Plate and Susan Njambi Odongo. After preparing trainers to organize 3 Local Fundraising Training and 1 Mobilizing Support Training, the Nepal team did the contextualization of the training content which includes translation of training manual and literature. Then in 2019 and 2020, 4 classroom trainings were conducted along with refresher courses and several virtual coaching sessions. So far 81 participants are trained in Local Fundraising and 29 have been trained on Mobilization Support. Apart from classroom training, Wilde Ganzen also supported the consortium during the Covid19 pandemic and helped in doing activities related to strengthening women's groups and enhancing livelihoods of marginalized communities. ICCO cooperation supported the Badi community in Kailali District, Sahakarmi Samaj supported marginalized communities in Dang and Bardiya. Similarly, CSRC supported farmers and daily wage workers in Mahottari District and Tewa also responded to the community with relief items, WASH activities and grant programs for their grantee partners. Total 1409 households were supported with relief materials.

MRC Joint Global Development Trial to Field-test socioeconomic support packages for TB-affected households to identify which is most feasible and acceptable in Nepal; inform design and delivery of a definitive, large-scale trial to evaluate the impact of the selected support package on health, finances, and stigma of TB-affected households.Consolidate partnerships with communities, the Nepal NTP, and WHO, to ensure the future trial is achievable, act as a model for other LICs, and informs TB policy and practice within four districts of Nepal with high TB and poverty: Chitwan, Mahottari, Morang, and Pyuthan.

Increased access and awareness to safe drinking water and sanitation to dalits and poor households of Mahottari District, Nepal
The purpose of the project is to provide access to clean drinking water or toilets to the 216 households that previously did not have such access. This will provide basic sanitation for the residents of the community, which was previously non-existent. In addition, the awareness of the residents should be raised for the importance of hygiene, especially the regular washing of hands. As concrete measures, 30 hand pipes (connections for clean drinking water) and 30 latrines are to be installed in the community, each of which can be used jointly by seven to eight households. A fund will be set up for the maintenance of the facilities, into which all users will pay a small amount. In addition, to promote hygiene awareness, children's clubs will be established in the affected community to educate children on the use of soap and the importance of hand washing. Hygiene kits containing basic necessities such as soap and toilet brushes will be distributed in public places such as schools and administrative offices.

Project area and Country: Dhanusha and Mahottari districts, Nepal. #3. Project justification: #Caste based discrimination th at affects in particular the Dalits, is the worst form of discrimination practiced in Nepal. The Dalits have limited access to education and information and their social participation is limited. The status of women and girls is low. Yet, they lack the cap acity and skills to address these challenges. Their social mobility is limited and they have limited access to alternative livelihood opportunities and income. #The implementation of rights based on the provisions in the 2015 constitution and legislation i s weak. Communities and their leaders lack knowledge and information about how to exercise their rights and fulfil their duties. In the coming years, policy advocacy will play a crucial role in influencing local laws and policymaking processes on behalf of the marginalized groups, as well as to establish platforms to promote dialogue between the people and the service providers. #4. The main objective and expected results:#The main objective of the project is to increase the participation of Dalits and the poorest rural communities in social and economic activities, local structures and decision-making that affect their lives. This will be accomplished through enhanced access to social and economic capital and opportunities and increased knowledge and eviden ce based advocacy for the inclusion and equality of the target groups. The main activities include support to the implementation of small-scale community development schemes, entrepreneurship, business and skill trainings, support to local IGAs/MEs, awaren ess raising on new governance structures and peoples roles and rights based on the provisions in the national legislation, networking and capacity building for local leaders, and evidence based advocacy toward the local government. #5. Right-holders/ benef iciaries: 1932 targeted Dalits in Dhanusha and Mahottari districts #Duty bearers: District Administration Office, Nepal Police, justice providers and government offices #6. Marginalised No More
Marginalised No More is a 3-year project funded by DfID through the Girls Education Challenge supporting 7500 out of school Musahar girls aged 10 to 18. The project involves three key interventions (i) an Accelerated Learning Programme that will help girls achieve foundational literacy and numeracy; (ii) a Transition Programme which will help girls to either enrol into formal education or further vocational training tailored to help them secure employment or self employment; and (iii) a Life Skills Programme which enables Musahar girls as well as boys to resist and respond to gender-based violence, as well as to become active decision makers in their communities. The project is being implemented in five districts (Dhanusha, Mahottari, Siraha, Saptari and Sunsari) in Province 2 of Nepal.
