Empowering women, children and young people and promoting gender equality in western Nepal
In Nepal, people face systemic gender-based discrimination that limits womens and marginalised groups access to education, healthcare, economic resources and participation in decision-making processes. The project implementer has set itself the goal of strengthening the livelihoods of survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and gender-based discrimination (GBD) by integrating climate change adaptation strategies to ensure long-term resilience and sustainability. The direct target group comprises a total of approximately 3,700 women, children and young people who participate in and benefit from the activities. The targeted support for women in the project area will improve their living conditions in the long term and strengthen their resilience to gender-based violence and discrimination. They will gain access to training measures and climate-resilient income-generating opportunities in order to achieve greater economic independence and protection from GBD and GBV. Furthermore, support structures for women will be strengthened in order to combat gender-based violence and gender-based discrimination. Access to specialised health services and the introduction of climate-friendly, energy-efficient planning and practices will ensure improved reproductive and general health for women and girls in the project area. To achieve this, numerous training courses will be held, cooperation with the local government will be intensified and networks will be formed.

Insatsens mål Programmets övergripande mål och syfte är att säkerställa att barns rättigheter realiseras och respekteras. Problemformuleringen utgår från hur barns rättigheter utsätts för överlappande och ökande utmaningar kopplat till klimatförändringar, konflikter och kvinnors och flickors inskränkta rättigheter. Över en miljard barn världen över saknar tillgång till grundläggande rättigheter såsom utbildning, hälsa och mat. Förändringsteorin utgår ifrån att ett starkt civilsamhälle är en av de mest avgörande aktörerna för att utkräva att barns rättigheter uppfylls, att stater hålls ansvariga och att barn och deras samhällen stärks. Det övergripande målets har formulerats på engelska och återges därför ordagrant nedan: Civil society actors, including children, claim civic space and have the capacity to hold duty-bearers accountable for the equitable fulfilment of childrens rights Den nedbrutna förändringsteorin är att om civilsamhällesaktörer har finansiering, samarbeten, evidensbaserade metoder och nödvändig kapacitet; får de bättre möjlighet övervaka efterlevnaden och påverka politik för barns rättigheter; och då nås programmålet. Målet ska nås genom två underliggande resultat/metoder, även de återgivna på engelska: 1. Monitor and Report: Civil society actors, including children, have increased capacity and opportunities to monitor, report and follow-up on duty-bearers commitments to child rights. Under det här resultatområdet ingår till exempel bevakning och rapportering till processer som barnkonventionen, Universal Periodic Review, Voluntary National Reviews och liknande regionala processer. Varje land kommer identifiera sina egna strategier och resultat utifrån sin specifika kontext men några exempel är redan identifierade inom programmet. - Uppföljningen av policyer, lagar och budgetering för barn och deras rättigheter i en konfliktkontext kommer följas upp på nationell och regional nivå i Ukraina. - I Tanzania planeras upprättandet av en Barnrättsakademi där utbildning och resurser ska finnas tillgängliga för barn och partnerorganisationer med syftet att ge de metoder och ett samlat förhållningsätt för att följa upp Tanzanias barnrättsåtaganden. - Informella barnrättsaktörer och grupper ska få stöd att samla in evidens och rapportera prioriterade områden och hålla beslutsfattare ansvariga i Kambodja. - I Kosovo kommer marginaliserade barn få stöd att utkräva ansvar vad gäller utbildning, klimatfrågor och jämställdhet med hjälp av digitala plattformar, samhällsrevisioner och lokala scorecards. 2. Influence: Civil society actors, including children, have strengthened capacity and opportunities to influence policies, laws, budgets and services to advance the rights of girls and boys in all their diversities. Varje land kommer identifiera sina egna strategier och resultat utifrån sin specifika kontext men några exempel är redan planerade. - I Etiopien kommer partnerorganisationer stöttas att utkräva inkluderande utbildning, förskoleutbildning, och skyddsnät för barn i utsatta situationer såsom konflikt, genusbaserat våld eller internflyktingar. - Programmet i Nepal kommer fortsätta verka genom det av partner nyetablerade parlamentariska forumet för barnrättsfrågor. I forumet kommer flickor, barn från marginaliserade grupper (Daliter, LGBTIQ, barn med funktionsnedsättningar) ges utrymme att utkräva deras rättigheter i policyer och offentliga budgetar. - I Elfenbenskusten kommer stöd gå till civilsamhällets deltagande i reformkommittéer med syfte att skapa harmoniserade lagar kring barnaga, genusbaserat våld och integrering av miljö- och klimatfrågor i barnrättslagar. - Att barn och barnrätt prioriteras i den nationella utvecklingsagendan, vad gäller övergrepp mot barn, jämställdhet och barns ökade resiliens i klimatkatastrofer kommer bli centralt i programmet i Zambia.

Local peace initiatives in Nepal
The project aims to promote social peace, strengthen the capability of women and youth and consolidate peace structures at the community level to develop a resilient and inclusive society. This is done by supporting the development of individual capacities of women, youth and marginalised groups, promoting a culture of peace and social harmony through initiatives and spaces and conflict prevention, particularly in the diverse groups and communities in the project area. To this end, various training courses, workshops and training sessions are offered. Regular meetings are held, a steering committee and youth groups are formed and the overall activities are constantly reviewed and evaluated.

Contract related to: ECHO for Youth - Empowering Cultural Heritage and Opportunities for Young Innovators - The proposed Action intents to contribute to Specific-Objective 1.3: Support CSOs as actors of good governance and development in partner countries and to the achievement of the related result 1.3: Civil Society Organisations¿ (CSOs) ability to engage as actors of good governance and development at country level is improved.The Action rolls out the EU support to country-level CSO initiatives aimed at implementing priorities reflected in the NDICI-GLOBAL Europe, Annex III CSO Thematic Programme and the subsequent draft Multiannual Indicative Plan for the same. In line with the policy of geographisation, a majority of funds under the CSO MAAP 2021-2024, will be allocated under the Action to support civil society in partner countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and Caribbean, and in Neighbourhood countries and Russia. Activities funded under the Action will support a broad range of civil society actors including and prioritising, but not limited to, women and youth organisations, In the framework of the Country Roadmaps for EU and Member States engagement with civil society (CSO Roadmaps), all initiatives under the Action will aim at and contribute to strengthening civil society partner¿s institutional and operational capacity through a comprehensive approach; enabling and ensuring their participation; and on improving the environment in which they operate. Particular attention will be paid to CSOs capacities to benefit from the digital transformation which will pay attention to accessible digital technology and reduce the gap on access to ICT.

Transforming the future - for and with children 2024-2028. Impact area 1: Government structures and mechanisms demonstrate greater responsibility and accountability in implementing child rights. The projects include initiatives to address gender-based violence and promote girls education, in addition to collaborations with local organizations focused on women’s and girls empowerments. It includes explicit gender equality objectives and indicators. It also includes initiatives to support the inclusion of children with disabilities in education, and collaborations with organizations focused on disability rights to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities. The projects include measures to address climate resilience and environmental degradation and supports children and families in becoming resilient to climate impacts.
