The project content for 2017 will be defined later on; it will be a continuum for 2015-2016. The budget will be allocated from 11591 “Promotion of Global Justice”. The description for 2015-2016: The Overall Objective of the project is to promote and pr otect human rights of Dalit in Nepal. The Specific Objective is to contribute for addressing the key human rights concerns of Dalit through second cycle of Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The specific human rights issues and concerns of Dalit community di scussed and documented through a participatory process with the involvement of more than 200 Dalit organizations representing all five development regions of Nepal. A report on the specific human rights issues and concerns of Dalit will be developed and su bmitted to UPR concerned committee of UN within third week of March 2015. The specific human rights concerns of Dalit advocated and lobbied with the delegates of different countries during UPR of Nepal in October / November 2015.The project will carry out a quick research on the implementation status of UPR recommendations in Nepal, Regional level consultation workshop will be organized at Nepalganj, Chitwan and Itahari, National level consultation workshop will be held at Kathmandu. Advocacy and lobbying w ill be carried out with international governments through embassies in Kathmandu, Advocacy and lobbying will be done to the government of Nepal for recommendation involving media houses. Lobbying to the HRC members and other state representatives during i nteractive dialogue session will be carried out.

The project trains people who work with women suffered from violence. The aim is to train doctors, lawyers, police officers, and human rights activists, so that they can better work to promote rights of the women, victims of violence. Violence against wome n in Nepal is a widespread problem, to which the authorities do not interfere with the necessary severity - at least on a practical level. For example, Amnesty International recently reported that the police authorities in cases of violence against women t ake more the side of the guilty than the victim's side. Domestic violence is seen as a private matter for families and abused women rarely even seek help for the known obstacles. Lawyers often do not like to assume responsibility for cases of violence agai nst women-related, and when the evidence has not been adequately documented, the victims are virtually impossible to get justice. The main objective is to promote rights of the women, victims of violence. The aim is to guarantee access to the relevant serv ices, and to increase the capacity service providers and the authorities, so that women's rights are better met. The beneficiaries are the authorities participating in the project. The project also offers support to 50 women suffered from violence and info rms women about the services for victims of violences. The project is implemented in the Kavre county. CVICT was founded and registered as an NGO in 1990 and was originally used by volunteers for Victims of Torture in Kathmandu. Women are often victims of the discrimination. Living in remote rural areas, women's rights are often unsatisfactory. The reasons for the unequal situation can be found in cultural, economic and political factors. Nepal's judicial system is relatively slow and inefficient. Women's access to legal institutions is generally still weaker than for men and women are often not aware of their rights. The beneficiaries are the most vulnerable women and in need of legal assistance and counseling in Kathmandu, Kask, and Banken counties. Poor women from deprived communities are not in a position to access loan from banks or other financial institutions or financial service providers due to lack of physical collateral. The poor, indigenous women and girls are exploited from various forms of discrimination. Therefore there is a comprehensive need to build the capacity of deprived poor women to increase their access to financial capital with low interest rate. The local government bodies have not fully owned and realised the importance of wome n’s participation in planning process and providing justifiable share of resources to the women in their location. Strengthening cooperatives and their linkages with local bodies, including Ward Citizen Forum and Citizen Awareness Centre (CAC) are requir ed to increase women’s access to resources and services. Most of the women still lack legal ownership of their land. Cooperatives still lack adequate knowledge and skills to develop strong linkages with market actors for enterprise development. Lack of v ocational skill training and micro entrepreneurship skills among women and out of school youth girls, denial of women to property rights, gender based discrimination and women’s right violation justify the need to implement this project in Lalitpur distr ict of Nepal. The overall objective of the project is to improve women’s economic and socio-cultural status. The specific objective is to develop and strengthen women-led local institutions for promoting economic, social and cultural rights of poor and m arginalised women communities in Lalitpur. This project is part of DFATD’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), which is within the Career Focus stream of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). The IYIP is designed to offer young Canadian post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience through international development work. The Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives, University of Victoria, provides 20 young Canadians (women and men) the opportunity to work alongside innovative and dynamic civil society leaders who are improving the livelihoods of marginalized migrant communities. Interns work collaboratively with Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) and local partner organizations (LPOs) that form a network of over 230 civil society organizations focused on migrant rights. The interns assist these organisations to address the needs of migrants, particularly women and children, who are especially vulnerable to poverty, food insecurity, precarious employment, and human rights abuses. When interns return they receive assistance with transitioning their skills to the Canadian workplace and have the opportunity to tell Canadians about their experience.

Nepal Agricultural Cooperative Central Federation Limited (NACCFL) is a central level umbrella organization of Small Farmer Agricultural Cooperatives (SFACLs) and Agricultural Cooperatives. Besides its regular activities it has also been supporting technically and through lobby for its member cooperatives for accessing grants from different stakeholders. In 2017 the collaboration of Agriterra and NACCFL focus on roll out coaching and effective use of FACT methodology in the policy lobbying and advocacy. Furthermore Agriterra introduced the concept of youth council and governance training to NACCFL . As an output NACCFL and member organizations developed the lobby and advocacy skills and have access to more government and donor grants. And has formalized electronic database which has supported in formalizing policy and lobby. NACCFL has been taking lead role in implementing FACT tools in Nepal and was able to realize NPR 42.5 million from ministry in 2017.

The Junar Central Cooperative Union (JCCU) was established in 2008. It is a federation of 43 Primary cooperatives and 2 district cooperative (Sindhuli and Ramechap) unions representing about 7626 individual farmers. JCCU has the mandate to advise and provide services to the district unions the primary cooperatives and its members. JCCU is active in networking and lobbying with district zonal and national government and third parties. Furthermore JCCU initiates organizes and monitors the investment they are doing on behalf of the members. JCCU is positioning itself more and more as a business partner for the cooperative farmers. JCCU recently invested in a Junar processing plant where Junar is cleaned waxed graded and packed and partly processed into juice. Farmers sell part of the Junar directly to the market and partly through their coop to the union for the factory. JCCU has committed itself during a strategic planning workshop to address 3 strategic objectives in the coming 3 years: 1) establishing a modern Junar tree nursery 2) building the management and governance capacity of the primary cooperatives and 3) increasing the sourcing and marketing of Junar from the primary cooperatives.In order to ensure a regular sourcing to the factory members must be committed and understand the added value of the cooperatives. The main focus in 2018 is to continue the activities which has remained in 2017. The activities mainly focuses on building members commitment by creating awareness to members on the cooperative principles governance providing services to the farmers networking with other development agencies and reviewing the activities implemented and its outputs.

The Dumarwana Small Farmer Agriculture Cooperative Limited (DSFACL) is located at the central region of Nepal in Bara district. In 1997 the cooperative was registered with 454 members and grown to 9.572 members in April 2017. Out of total members about 8.000 are rice farmers. The livelihood of members largely depends upon the income of paddy. There is demand from members to invest in a rice processing plant and market rice on behalf of the members. DSFACL already purchased the land and constructed a building for the rice processing plant. DSFACL is currently exploring options to finance the investment. DSFACL could gain regular source of income from agri-business other than financial services. During the company assessment in April 2017 it was realized that Agriterra can add value in their envisioned plan of running rice processing plant which gives more marketing opportunities and better prices for all their members. The cooperative should focus on organizational development and development of rice processing business. This is expected to results in the realization of the paddy processing factory and a yearly processed volume of 15.000 ton paddy by end of 2019.

2018Agriterra has started collaboration with AACL in March 2017 which gave opportunities to know each other better. During 2017 Agriterra mainly focused on study of cooperative vegetables marketing strengthening institutional capacity in managing agricultural cooperatives and on financial management. As follow up of advisory services in 2017 AACL has started mushroom and tomato packaging with cooperative logos and provision of vegetable price list daily on the notice board. AACL has formed separate management team for cooperative marketing. These activities have resulted in increased sales turnover of vegetable marketing. Currently AACL is only able to absorb approximately 2 percent of total production of its members through one cooperative outlet. AACL has made a plan to add two new outlets and use different sales channels for increasing the sales turnover. AACL would like to further position itself in the vegetable marketing by adding value to the products of its members with own branding logos and packaging. In order to do that there is need to further improving financial management and increase capital to support the marketing plans. AACL has formulated BHAG to develop and implement a sustainable and cooperative vegetable output marketing modality for the 150 commercial farmer members. The proposed activities are made to achieve sales turnover of cooperative vegetables marketing of Rs.25 million in 2018.2019Since 2017 Agrtiterra has been providing advisory support to AACL. In 2017 Agriterra focused on study of cooperative vegetables marketing strengthening institutional capacity on cooperatives and financial management. In 2018 the collaboration focused on institutional capacity development on strategic financial management internal capitalization governance and market development. AACL developed 3 years business plan for vegetable marketing. These efforts resulted to increase sales turnover by 2 times compare to 2017. The sales turnover was NPR 10 million in 2017 and NPR 20 million in 2018.AACL would like to further position itself in the vegetable marketing by professionalizing its marketing services and adding value to the products. AACL has set goals to achieve sales turnover of NPR.66 million by own main and branch outlets home delivery and delivering to restaurant hotels and hostel. The proposed action plans are targeted to support AACL for achieving its goals.

Main objective is to work towards the financial sustainability of the federation by providing quality services to its members focussing on improved farm profitability and positioning the cooperatives actively in the agricultural value chain . This is done in various ways:1. Marketing support services to six member organisations in which the federation will support for marketing of high quality agri-products: Turmeric powder maize flour and honey. It fits very well with the government programme: one village one product OVOP. The federation will receive a margin on the sales and if this concept works it can be rolled-out in the future to other cooperatives. 2. These three cooperatives have identified potato as the main commercial crop and are willing to improve the cooperative business by cooperative output marketing and value addition in the future. This year continues to lay a firm foundation at farmers level for commercial farming (record keeping and bench marking) resulting in higher production productivity and profitability and cooperative marketing concepts.3. ENZA Seeds: The second year of cooperation between ENZA Zaden and DAF Makwanpur will be continued in this year too. This comprises technical assistance by ENZA to 45 seed producing farmers of three selected agriculture cooperatives (Gogane Bajrabarahi and Namtar) . Crops selected for the Seeds are chilli (akabare kursani) beans and broad leaved mustard. 4.
