International Methane Emissions Observatory
85%data completenessfossil fuel industry is responsible for one-third of anthropogenic methane emissions and is the sector with the highest potential for fast reductions that could slow the rate of global warming as efforts continue to decarbonize the energy system through cleaner forms of energy. To date action by companies and governments on fossil fuel methane emissions has been limited and uncoordinated at the global level. UNEP will establish an International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) that accelerates reductions in fossil fuel methane emissions globally. IMEO will be the nucleus of a multi-sector partnership, including companies, research institutions, governments, and civil society partners. Hosted within UNEP, IMEO will benefit from UNEP’s experience on methane, track record of collaborating with diverse partners on complex environmental issues, global reach, and institutional legitimacy. IMEO will build upon the success and experience of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition’s Mineral Methane Initiative, which seeks to achieve ambitious methane emissions reductions of 45% by 2025 and 60-75% by 2030. Furthermore, it will contribute to Sustainable Development Goal #13 on Climate Action: Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies, and planning. Specifically, IMEO will increase the number of countries with Nationally Determined Contributions and Long-term Strategies under the Paris Agreement. To achieve this objective, IMEO will aggregate and analyse multiple methane emissions data streams, including company reporting, national inventories reported to the Climate Change secretariat, direct measurements, and satellite observations, and reconcile inconsistencies between reported and observed emissions levels. By assisting industry and governments in addressing uncertainty related to reported emissions, IMEO will improve the consistency and credibility of methane emissions data and accelerate mitigation actions based on sound science. Additionally, IMEO will commission new scientific measurement studies, provide feedback to companies on the quality of their data and the ambition of their targets, and engage governments on the findings from the data analysis. The Observatory will also be a platform for dialogue between industry, governments, research institutions, and civil society organizations conducting research on fossil fuel operations, and will engage with countries to implement methane mitigation projects by acting as a resource for capacity building, best practice sharing and emissions measurement support.

Healthy and productive freshwater ecosystems
85%data completenessDespite making up less than 1% of all water on Earth, fresh water is essential for supporting people, prosperity and the planet, and central to securing basic needs, livelihoods and development. Freshwater ecosystems such as lakes, rivers, wetlands and aquifers are uniquely important and yet particularly under threat. Under competition from many users for a multiple of different productive, municipal and economic uses, they bear the brunt of human activity through over extraction and pollution and will keenly feel the effects of climate change. Their protection, restoration and management is of utmost concern and importance to all, particularly considering that the majority of UN Member States, 151 out of 193 countries, share part or all of their water resources with another country. These concepts form the basis of the rationale behind Sustainable Development Goal (6), “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all,” the achievement of which would be instrumental for securing sustainable development. Yet a lack of information, capacity, incentives, tools and involvement of stakeholders including gender aspects is hindering actors, from individual to government to corporate level, from taking steps to protect and restore freshwater ecosystems and achieve water-related SDG targets. Poor land and water management and growing competition, leading to the degradation of water-related ecosystems and the loss of their critical services, is a growing concern worldwide, with an urgent need for action. It is estimated that the world has already lost at least 60% of its natural water bodies since wide-scale development began in 1900, and that one-third to one-seventh of rivers in developing countries face severe pathogenic and organic pollution, including from a lack of safely managed wastewater and from run-off from land-based activities. Growing water stress in many parts of the world, as well as drought and desertification, are further serious concerns which the World Economic Forum among others has identified as some of the most serious threats facing our current and future societies and businesses. At the same time, since most countries share important transboundary water resources, information sharing and cooperation across borders is essential, requiring technical assistance and trust-building measures. There is growing concern that failure to do so can lead to tension and conflict, and further degradation of water bodies. Robust and abundant evidence also exists that freshwater resources are particularly vulnerable and have the potential to be strongly impacted by climate change, with wide-ranging consequences for human societies and ecosystems. Given future trends of population growth, development, and climate change, the integrated management of water resources across uses and users is therefore of utmost importance to ensure the sustainability of freshwater ecosystems and their services.

Development Visit From Nepal
80%data completenessThe project “Development visit from Nepal Scouts” aims to actualize the experiences we gained during the pilot project "Youth Forum for Change." Here, we learned the importance of being physically together when planning, brainstorming, and connecting. It has proven crucial for the process, and we are confident that this project would be a catalyst for the further development of the overall partnership, allowing many more scouts to engage in the partnership. During the pilot project visit, we developed a timeline for 2024 and partly for 2025 and 2026. When finished, we all agreed that this would have been close to impossible to complete online. Furthermore, our partnership has now finished the initial phase, allowing us as partners to be more honest, direct, and understandable to each other. Therefore, with representatives for the youth, scout centres, activity developers, and the project leaders, we feel well assured that this project/visit will play a key role in ensuring that the dreams encapsulated in the timeline will actually be realised successfully.

Partnership with Nepal Scouts
70%data completenessKFUM-Spejderne in Denmark has a long tradition of longstanding partnerships with foreign scout associations. We have now had a longer search for a possible new partner in South East Asia, and we found a match in capacity and intentions in Nepal Scouts. We have had a few online meetings, and we have agreed to clarify our possibilities in a physical meeting. We, therefore, wish to send a group from Denmark including 3 persons from the planning team to Nepal, and we will then meet with members of Nepal Scouts to set up guidelines for possible future cooperation. We have realised that exchanging values, wishes, and experiences with a possible new partner demands both time and presence, and this we believe can be an option through this Partner Identification trip. We also need to clarify our common understanding of the frame and the options in a possible future partnership, and we find a physical meeting is needed.

Young voices - NNDSWO // Mariagerfjord Youth Council
80%data completenessWith this application we are applying for a Partner Identification in Nepal with NNDSWO. We have been in contact with each other for the last year, and we do have an idea about what a potential future project could look like, as well as a sense of mutual ambitions on behalf of our respective groups - but we still need to work on our foundation, and most importantly match our expectations in a partnership. When we first got in contact last year after a conference about international partnerships, we matched because both our organizations work hard on creating an environment where young people feel heard and where they can express themselves in democratic ways. Both organizations aspire young people to be a part of a community where their participation matters and where they can grow into strong and responsible citizens. All of this happens while they participate in or organize projects for their peers, and that?s where we see a huge potential with an international project like this; what existing projects can we learn from, what can we create with this target group and how can we build an even stronger group of young people in both Nepal and Denmark.

Youth Leader Exchange in Relation to Project Junkiri
80%data completenessThe Youth Leaders (YLs) will be connected to the Junkiri project, a partnership project between the Danish organization IMCC Nepal and the Nepalese organization Physicians for Social Responsibility Nepal Student Chapter (PSRN-SC) concerning Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and mental health. The purpose of the Youth Leader Exchange (YLE) is to strengthen the partnership between the organizations by facilitating capacity building and thereby supporting the project's activities. Just as important, the YLE allows easier communication and the opportunity to work with more rapidly growing results, which is also essential for motivation and sustainability. Recently, issues regarding bank transfer has caused a six-month delay in the beginning of the project. Therefore, the YLE will be supporting PSRN-SC in the process of kickstarting activities. The YLE will last 3 months in Nepal, but the YLs will continue to remain active in the organizations after the exchange.

Inclusive and Resilient Community with Empowered and Engaged People. Youth Leaders.
80%data completenessThe youth leader exchange will support the implementation of the Inclusive and Resilient Community with Empowered and Engaged People (ICE) that starts in May 2023 (annex 11). The project is implemented by Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) and Danish Red Cross (DRC) in rural municipalities in Lamjung District, Gandaki Province, Nepal. The DRC and NRCS has a long-standing partnership and have implemented projects in the Lambjung District for the past 15 years. The ICE project has a strong focus on empowering youth and vulnerable groups by capacity-building them to position themselves as agents of change in their families and communities and through improving their socio-economic status. Unemployment is a major challenge for youth in Nepal due to the caste system and inadequate economic growth. The youth leader exchange will support the project by strengthening the capacity of key NRCS youth volunteers to support local youth in Lamjung in building personal capacities and initiate youth-led projects to enhance their livelihood.

Youth Leader Exchange 2023
80%data completenessThe Youth Leaders (YLs) will be attached to the partnership project between IMCC Nepal and PSRN-sc on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and mental health. The purpose of the Youth Leader exchange (YLE) is to support the project objectives and activities and to strengthen the capacity and communication within the partnership. The previous YL’s' exchange to Nepal and project activities was cancelled, due to the COVID-19. We consider YLE as a great opportunity for our partnership to develop and for the motivation and communication to flourish again. The YLs will have a special focus on capacity building of members of PSRN in different workshops, and an ongoing evaluation of how the project is going in the ‘new’ project-district; Tanahun, where our teaching, empowerment, and advocacy work takes place.
