Within the project members of five community forestry communities will be trained on the national and international legal context of biocultural community protocols. The same communities will document their biocultural life-heritage, develop biocultural co mmunity protocols and organize local campaigns to demand bio-cultural rights. Representatives of FECOFUN and local communities will participate in the meetings of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity to share the experiences related to the community p rotocols. Individual biocultural community protocols will be published at local level. In addition, FECOFUN will publish an evaluation report on the state of biocultural rights of local and indigenous communities to be shared at international fora. The bio cultural rights of the indigenous and local communities have been recognized in many international human rights and biodiversity instruments, but because of the reluctance of the Nepalese government, they are not implemented. Community forestry plans based on the National Forest Act emphasize technical standards rather than rights, so it is necessary to produce separate biocultural protocols. At Community level knowledge of international instruments such as the UN Biodiversity Agreement is weak, so it is ne cessary to increase it. Communities also need stronger campaigning capacity for biocultural rights to be included in forest management plans and forestry legislation. As a result of the project, the awareness of biocultural rights of local communities is e xpected to grow, the communities' biocultural life heritage will be documented and biocultural protocols will be drafted, government and other actors will recognize the community's cultural rights and the campaigning capacity of the community will be stren gthened to defend the rights. FECOFUN and local community representatives will be able to effectively participate in national and international forums and share the publication with wider audiences. The beneficiaries of the project are the members of the s elected five Community Forestry Groups in the following districts: Bardiya (Tharu People, Khata Corridor), Sunsari (peasants, Ramdhuni Cultural Forest), Kathmandu (Tamang people, Shandong National Park Buffer Zone), Rasuwa / Nuwakot (Tamang People, Lantang National Park Buffer Zone), Dhading / Gorkha (various populations, Community Forest adjacent to the Budigandaki hydropower project). SADED Nepal promotes grassroots democracy and ecologically sustainable society, using mainly the methodology of dialogues. The dialogues on sustainable alternatives will be carried out in particular on the following themes: youth and migration, biodiversit y and farming, and sustainable rebuilding. The dialogues are facilitated on different levels. On a village level in Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Dhankuta and Sankhuwakhabha districts the dialogues seek to be an impetus for a lasting e mpowering platform. On a district or regional level dialogues take place between villagers and policy makers (wanting to challenge the usual top down policy making process), whilst the dialogues in the centre, in Kathmandu will reach out to students and na tional policy and opinion makers. The dialogues are also continued at the Social Forum process and the dialogues will in total be feeding into a policy alternatives building process (forming national consortium for policy alternatives) between different ac tors besides SADED, as trade unions and various youth groups, which will meet at regular intervals around the main themes of the dialogues. The outcomes of the dialogues, the ideas around sustainable alternatives, will be published and disseminated in the interconnected dialogue processes via newsletters, newspaper items, SADED's website (http://sadednepal.org.np) a journal and books.

The aim of the project is to promote the implementation of the ESC rights, especially right to education, food and health at the local level by raising awareness in local communities of their rights and the capacity to claim their rights, as well as influe ncing the authorities and capacitating them of their obligations. Government accountability should influence in the equal access to rights. In addition, the aim is to monitor the implementation of the commitments relating to the rights and administrative programs, and to promote links between rights holders and accountables. The main result of project objectives are as follows 1. The local community capacity to demand the right to education, food and health implementation has been strengthened: 2. The Gov ernment and local authorities responsibility TSS implementation Rights has increased. The primary target group of the project are the local communities, as well as the responsible local authorities and service providers in 5 village committees in five diff erent counties. Particular attention is paid to the participation of vulnerable groups such as Dalits and indigenous communities, as well as in the consideration of the gender equality. Districts are the same as in the previous project: Morang, Makawanpur, Kaski, Banke and Kailali. The village committee new ones. Based on the results of the previous project, the primary beneficiaries, the amount can be estimated at around 4 000 people. Insec was founded in 1988, its main aims is to promote the rights of per sons working in informal sectors. Since then, the organization in its field has expanded. INSEC is one of the most important and most reliable human rights organization in Nepal. The organization was registered in 1991. It makes extensive documentation and reporting, and also acts as a central source for data of human rights situation in Nepal. INSEC's activities include monitoring, advocacy, information at the grassroots level and the training and capacitating of different actors. INSEC's focus has been p romoting in particular the cultural and political rights and democracy, but the organization's new strategy emphasizes more strongly the ESC rights. www.insec.org.np

Womens engagement in social and economic development initiatives is limited regardless their huge contribution for family economy. Awareness of women on possible options for income generation and services available from the government agencies is very limited. The local population in the target area do not have reliable access to finance as financial intuitions are located mostly in urban centres. #4. The main objective and the expected results: #The main objective of the project is to contribute for poverty reduction in remote Village Development Committees of Sindhuli district. The project aims to strengthen social and economic status of socially marginalized groups through enhancing access to finance, engagement in appropriate enterprises and social empowerment. Local population, including socially marginalized groups, will diversify their income from access to finance, farm + off farm based enterprises and business development. Governance at local level will be strengthened and communities will access government services in line with the prevailing policies. The project will support the es tablishment of new cooperatives and strengthening the capacity of existing cooperatives. Project justification: #Women are the largest marginalized group in Nepal in terms of educat ion, asset ownership, political representation and economic participation. Many poor women from deprived communities are not in a position to access loan from banks or other financial institutions or financial service providers due to lack of physical coll ateral. Most of the women still lack legal ownership of their land and citizenship certificate. This project is a continuation of past project Promotion of Womens Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Lalitpur. It aims to replicate learning to neighbouri ng VDCs, increase cooperatives membership and services to poor and excluded households and to strengthen women-led cooperatives and their networking. Cooperatives still lack adequate knowledge and skills to develop strong linkages with market actors for en terprise development. #4. The main objective and the expected results: #The main objective of the project is to contribute to change the oppressive position of rural women promoting their economic, social, political and cultural rights. The project aims to develop, expand and strengthen women-led local institutions to promote economic, social and cultural rights of women. The targeted women will have an opportunity to earn, save and access credits equal to men. Women will be economically active and empowere d members in their communities through their meaningful stake in decision-making process at households and community level. The project will improve womens business skills so that they will manage their businesses professionally and profitably. The women will be mainly from economically poor and indigenous Tamang communities in 12 village development committees (VDCs) of Lalitpur district.#5. There are several ethnic groups and indigenous people in Nepal, and the country has internationally committed to improve the rights of indigenous people. The tamang language is part of Tibetan Burman languages, and it’s among the five most spoken languag es in Nepal. Implementing linguistic rights has been a huge challenge for Nepal, in which over 100 languages are spoken and in which structural reforms are still ongoing. Even though time has been reserved for education of both Nepalese and a local languag e, English is often taught instead of a local language due to lack of linguistic knowledge and negative attitudes. The project continues directly from a project previously funded by KIOS. The aim is to promote right to education on one’s mother tongue am ongst children speaking Tamang language. Also the continuation of the project seeks to enhance tamang-speaking children’s cultural and educational rights in schools as well as inform about linguistic and cultural rights to the larger public. Childspace F oundation Nepal was founded in 2003 by democracy and human rights activists belonging in tamang linguistic minority and indigenous population. The organization was originally registered as Helping Society Nepal in 2003, but the name was changed into Childs pace Foundation Nepla in 2011. The organisation’s activities focus especially on improving the status and rights of tamang minority and, on a larger scale, on enhancing the rights of indigenous people and ethnic minorities. www.childspacefoundation.org

The development problem of the proposed project is limited access to SRHR combined with unsustainable use of natural resources. The purpose of the project is to improve SRHR and biodiversity conservation through integrated approach. The project focuses on peoples empowerment capacity building and awareness raising improving livelihood and well-being as well as strengthening partnerships to promote an integrated approach. Capacity building and awareness raising activities will be targeted towards young peopl e and Natural Resource Management communities. Through the trainings it is expected that their understanding of the issues and motivation to promote sustainable development and SRHR are increased. The long-term development objective for the integrated Popu lation Health and Environment (PHE) initiative is Healthy and productive communities where young people can live in harmony with nature and realize their SRHR. This project is a continuation project and forms a third phase of a collaborative PHE project wh ich is implemented through an integrated approach with four partners: Väestöliitto (the Family Federation of Finland) FPAN (the Family Planning Association of Nepal) WWF Finland and WWF Nepal. Cooperation between these partners started already in 2011 an d this project builds upon the lessons learned from the first two phases of the project. The project will be directly linked to the PHE initiative of WWF Nepal and WWF Finland supported by the MFA. These two projects will complement each other and there wi ll be close partnership and coordination with WWF Nepal at the central and field levels.Capacity building and awareness raising activities will be targeted towards young people and Natural Resource Management (NRM) communities.
