The school enrolment ratio of children in Nepal is almost 87 percent, but still the drop out rate is also very high, almost 100 children enrolled in grade one only 22 percent appear the school leaving examination. Children experienced discrimination, have suffered violence on the name of discipline, are victims of political conflict and have suffered sexual abuse. The school curriculum is not children's right responsive and friendly. The project aims to promote and protect child rights in and through educat ional settings and policies with the active involvement of parents, community and children themselves. The project promotes significantly schools and other educational sectors role on promoting children's rights at local and national level and to ensure ch ild rights in schools benefits children directly.

Soru and Mugum Karmarong, the remotest rural municipalities of Mugu district in Nepal, lack the access to inclusive quality education. There is a lack of inclusive environment and no equitable access to school education for children from poor and marginalised families including ethnic minorities and children with disabilities (CwDs). The aim of the project is to increase equitable education opportunities and access to quality inclusive education for all children, especially for the poor and marginalised including children with disabilities and ethnic/language minority in the project areas. Results of project activities: i) the targeted children, especially girls, language minorities and CwDs from project area have equal access to inclusive quality school education, ii) schools and parents cooperate to increase the inclusive education opportunities for poor, marginalised, ethnic, and other minority groups, and iii) rural municipalities are responsive towards inclusive quality education and development of disabilities and language minority groups. The project beneficiaries include school children including ethnic minority Karmarong children and dropped out children, children and persons with disabilities, and School Management Committee (SMC) / Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members, teachers and parents in Soru RM and Mugun Karmarong RM. Mental health problems are still not adequately identified, prevented, and treated in Nepal. Especially school-going children of ultra-poor families and children with disabilities are at risk of developing mental health and psychosocial problems. The recent study (2020) carried out by the Nepal Health Research Council has revealed that the mental health problems are found among 5.2% children of the age group from 13 to 17 years, whereas these problems increased to 10% above 18 years. Due to lack of awareness about emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) of children, teachers and parents practice corporal punishment. Student counselling is not avalable at school. There is a serious problem in student drop out and EBPs. The impact of the project is that the school-going children and adolescent are able to develop to their full potential, and their learning result improve as their psychosocial wellbeing grows stronger.Teachers have increased capacity to practice child friendly classroom management and parenting education. Parent and other stakeholders have increased their support in promotion of psychosocial wellbeing of children. Child protection policy and practice are in place in project schools. School based psycho-social support unit is functioning in program schools. Selfhelp Groups protect the rights of the persons with mental health and psycho-social disabilities. By 2025, master trainers are developed at national, province and local level to replicate comprehensive school counseling. CMC-Nepal has increased collaboration with the Government of Nepal to formulate and endorse comprehensive school counselling policy.The project beneficiaries are school going children and adolescents, with especial focus on children with emotional and behavioral problems, other students in the project area, adults with mental health and psychosocial problems, and parents, families, and care takers of these people. The causes of poverty in Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world, are complex and multidimensional. One of the key factors are the problems faced in the agriculture sector. The agriculture sector employs 65% of the population and contributes 24% of the national GDP. However, productivity of in the sector is low and smallholder families are rarely able to earn sufficient living. The Sudurpaschim Province is one of the least developed provinces in Nepal, characterized by marginality, inaccessibility, fragility, and a high rate of poverty. There is also a high rate of male migration, especially youths, in search of overseas employment, leading to increased feminization of agriculture. Despite the potential for agriculture, the province suffers from net food deficit. More than a third of its population (33.6%) is considered multidimensionally poor (compared to nationwide 28,6%). Child mortality and malnutrition rate are high, as are anaemia and stunting. Less than half of the children and women have a sufficiently diversified diet. The project aims at realization of the right to food and livelihood for approximately 21 000 persons of the target communities, as well as their improved climate change adaptation and disaster risk management. Project will organize and capacitate beneficiaries, provide them skills, resources and collaborate with approximately 1 400 local government staff and other key stakeholders to achieve this.

Project areas of Kalikot and Jajarkot districts in Nepal face several climate and livelihood challenges, made even worse by the Covid-19 that led the return of more than 50,000 migrant workers from India with no alternative income sources. These are contributing to already low agriculture productivity particularly among worse hit poor and vulnerable families such as women-headed households, Dalit and persons with disabilities. The aim of this project is to improve women-friendly, environmentally sustainable, and climate-resilient livelihood of these vulnerable and marginalized communities. Results of project activities: i) increased capacity in planning, management and implementation of women-friendly climate resilient and disaster risk reduction plans, ii) increased food production, nutrition and income through climate resilient, ecological agriculture and green market enterprises, and iii) improved capacity in implementing climate resilient and disaster risk reduction plans and programmes. The project beneficiaries are socially disadvantaged and marginalized farming families, particularly Dalits families, women, adolescent girls and persons with disabilities. Project activities also benefit CBNOs, farmer cooperatives, farmers? groups, SAMVAD centers, Eco Clubs, child right clubs, students, teachers and duty bearer bodies such as Palika offices, including Mayors and other elected members. Migration for foreign employment has become a major source of income for the Nepalese. Though this has brought economic profits to many Nepali households and the nation, it has come with a costs. Those are the psychological stress and mental health problems, resulting in family disintegration,emotional and behavioral problems of children. Studies on living and working conditions of low-skilled migrants consistently revealed abuse and exploitation, including forced labor and trafficking. These ar reflected also on the migrants' family members during the absence but above all during the home living periods of the migrant workers. The trauma experinced by the returning migrant workers, or their families, are not spoken of, resulting in behavioral problems, reduced efficiency, loosing comprehension and cognitive ability, withdrawal etc. These have a ngatve impact on person's human relationships, wellbeing, health and and productivity. As a result of project, migrant workers and their families have improved their mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. Returnee migrant worker and their families have been engaged in self-employment, business or other livelihood initiatives. Also, local government has replicated the best practices of the project with sustained allocation or resources. The project beneficiaries are the 2 560 migrant workers and their families, and 1 200 government officials and members of the organizations of persons with disabilities (DPOs) in Kailali and Salyan districts. Persons with psychosocial disability face daily barriers due to inhumane treatment, discrimination and exclusion in society which is further exacerbated by lack of strong disability rights and protection laws in Nepal. There is a need to identify persons with psychosocial disability and support them in their recovery, build a strong network among them as well as empower them about their rights, form a coalition with underrepresented disability groups and encourage them to demand for their rights with the duty bearers at their local and province level. Moreover, there is a need to sensitize families and communities regarding psychosocial disability and support in their social inclusion and improving livelihood. This project aims to respond to these needs and the results of project activities are: MPs from the Federal and Province Parliament take measures to formulate psychosocial disability friendly laws or amend laws which are discriminatory / derogatory towards persons with psychosocial disability; bureaucrats from the federal, province and local level take measures to include psychosocial disability in the plans and programs which are developed; and persons with psychosocial disabilities and coalition of underrepresented groups are engaged in evidence based self-advocacy to mainstream psychosocial disability in Sudurpaschhim Province and Karnali Province. The project beneficiaries are 670 persons with disabilities (including psychosocial disability) and their family members, members of National Federation of Disabled Nepal (NFDN), members of community groups (womens groups, youth groups, agriculture groups, religious groups, consumer groups) and journalists; and 230 government officlas and law-makers in the local, provincial and federal level. Youth Centre in Kathmandu. The project seeks to empower a local partner for youth work of its own. Now, after the civil war, the capital of Kathmandu is facing a huge wave of immigration from the rural areas to the city. The young generation in particular is moving into the city in search for work, but lacks sufficient skills and training. Fida partners with the Assemblies of God church (AOG) to address the needs of the youth. Fida and its partner will establish a youth centre in the capital that provides v ocational training and counselling to the youth, and facilities for leisure time activities. The AOG church youth will act as volunteers at the centre. Through the youth centre the partner will learn to work with the youth in practice. The youth, in turn, will have their educational and other needs addressed. All in all, the project will improve the life skills of the youth.

Nepal?s biodiversity is under constant threat from habitat degradation and fragmentation, deforestation and forest degradation, poaching and illegal wildlife trade and unsustainable infrastructure development. Vulnerability to natural disasters and climate change is remarkable. Threatened species such as tigers and snow leopards are threatened by poaching and illegal wildlife trade. Rural people are dependent on the natural resources for their daily needs to provide food, fodder, energy and water. Moreover, climate change has exacerbated the threats to biodiversity and people?s livelihoods. There?s also now ?window of opportunity? to facilitate conservation mainstreaming in new federal structure. Geographically programme focuses to the far-western parts of Nepal which belong under the Terai Arc Landscape. Programme aims to improve the forest corridor cover and connectivity as well as support buffer zone conservation and management through community-based conservation and cooperation with district forest officers. Improvement of the livelihoods and wellbeing of the local communities is gained through developing income generating activities such as forest-based enterprises. WWF implements human-rights based inclusive natural resources management and conservation and particularly aims to improve disability inclusion. In addition, we increase conservation awareness and empower local youth to act for the environment. We also support local communities to adapt in climate change by developing ecosystem-based adaptation solutions. The program tackles illegal wildlife trade and poaching by supporting community-based anti-poaching groups. Beneficiaries and partners: the local community forest user groups, women and youth groups, ethnic minority groups, forest workers and disadvantaged groups, local governments.
