Development projects in Nepal

The purpose of the Global Program is to consolidate lessons-learned in country programs and to develop solutions to mobilize finance for the restoration and protection of forest landscapes. The Global Program on Sustainable Landscapes aims to utilize GGGI’s existing programs and expertise to develop solutions, models and provide advisory services towards the ‘development of innovative financing mechanisms’ for sustainable landscapes. The approach will document past and on-going programs to develop a toolkit of solutions that can be expanded to meet global forest restoration and protection targets. GGGI’s niche will be conceptualizing, structuring, and mobilizing investment for the restoration and protection of sustainable forest landscapes. The Global Program builds on our strengths and utilizes skills and lessons learnt from existing projects. The Global Program will focus on the development of socially inclusive financial mobilization tools for sustaining and restoring forests. This has been identified as a niche where we are more likely to be competitive with other development partners who have more technical personnel in countries at the ground level.

Ipas works to improve women's and girls' sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) by improving their access to safe abortion and contraception. The organisation is technically strong and a well-respected actor with strong impact and extensive operations at global, regional and national level in about 30 countries. The initiative is central to achieving the expected results within the thematic strategy for Sweden's development cooperation on health and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) 2025–2029. They have proven to have strong impact and large scope globally and nationally. A central starting point for Ipas is that access to safe, legal abortion is critical for women’s and girls’ health, well­being, and is a fundamental human right which make their relevance for gener equality strong. Ipas is assessed to have a very good understanding of the environmental challenges the world is facing and have developed a strong environmental and climate impact analysis to identify opportunities for a positive impact from the contribution on the environment.

The project provides vocational skills training for self-employment and inclusion in educational system for PWDs. 14 persons with visual disability will be given skills training (i.e. stool making, bamboo sticks). The main objective of the contribution is to promote full respect for the human and labour rights of migrant workers within supply chains in Asia. A specific focus is given to women and migrants in situations of vulnerability. Central to the rationale of the MBHR Asia programme are the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and their "Protect, Respect and Remedy" framework and the programme outcomes are structured along this framework. PROTECT (Outcome 1): Improved labour migration governance that holds private sector actors accountable in protecting migrant workers' rights from a multi-sectoral, rights-based and gender-responsive approach. Output 1.1 Increased capacities and technical resources of national and subnational authorities and regional bodies in Asia in the design and implementation of policies related to labour migration governance, Responsible Business Conduct and the protection of migrant workers' rights in coordination with the private sector and the Civil Society Organisations Output 1.2 Increased availability of rights-based, gender-responsive and inclusive support and information services for migrant workers in coordination with Civil Society organizations, migrant networks and service providers. RESPECT (Outcome 2): Improved corporate due diligence practices of private sector entities that respect the rights of migrant workers across their entire supply chains and at all stages of labour migration.
