After the devastating Earthquake in Nepal in April 2015, many schools have been flattened. Help us to get the Nepali children back into education by rebuilding their schools in the remote area of Makwanpur. This area currently has one of the lowest rates of school attendance in Nepal and Nepal already has one of the worst literacy rates in the world - only 45% of Nepalis complete primary school. If the children have no school to go to, this problem will just get worse.

On April 25, 2015 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. The country was still reeling from the disaster when a second earthquake struck on May 12. The earthquakes destroyed or damaged over 36,000 classrooms leaving 1 million children unable to return to school. We've already given 2,177 kids the "Gift of Education" by rebuilding classrooms, providing school furniture and learning materials, and by making schools safe and fun places to learn. But we need your help to do even more.

Ama Ghar is a home for orphaned and abandoned children about 16 kilometers outside Kathmandu. Because our home is well built and we live in the country, our children are temporarily safe and have enough food for 4 weeks, or until mid-May. Who knows what will happen after that?
