UNFPA Nepal with the funding support from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) initiated a project on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) since 2016 in five districts, namely Bajhang, Baitadi, Rukum, Sindhuli and Udayapur in Nepal.The project aims to ensure young people (in/out of school) have adequate information and knowledge on various dimensions of gender equality and sexual and reproductive health to empower and enable them to make informed decisions about their lives.Building on the successes and lessons learnt over the years, both from UNFPA’s CSE programs and the Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response (GBVPR) Programme – the new phase of the programme aims to tackle the root causes of gender based violence. It will do so by expanding CSE for increased awareness amongst relevant population to challenge the social norms and strengthening a multi-sectoral approach by leveraging role of the Education sector for GBV prevention.

The South Asia Water Security Initiative (SAWASI) aims to improve access to safe water and sanitation services for disadvantaged communities in South Asian cities. It does this by strengthening South Asian city-level water governance; by undertaking investments that provide urban water services support to disadvantaged communities (particularly women and girls); and by making partner governments, other donors and water professionals aware of Australian expertise in urban water management and water sensitive cities (WSC). SAWASI's expected end-of-program outcomes are: • By 2025, four disadvantaged communities in South Asian cities have transitioned towards WSC. • Improved knowledge amongst workshop attendees of WSC approach. • Local, state and/or national government officials technical assistance needs met and have a positive attitude towards partnerships with Australian urban water experts.
