Gender and Protection Programme in Earthquake Affected Districts of Nepal

Support existing community based women's rights groups/organizations to design and implement interventions for the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in Earthquake affected OXFAM's working districts. Women, Dalits and other socially marginalised ethnic groups, who are among the poorest, are particularly vulnerable and may not have equitable access to assistance provided in recovery and reconstruction. Considering the deeply ingrained social exclusion of some groups, donors, aid agencies and the government must adopt inclusive and safe programming approaches, make conscious and concerted efforts to consult vulnerable groups, address their specific needs and issues considering their equitable access to recovery and reconstruction.
