"Together for Protection" Project

This project will focus on improving protection, prosecution and standards of care in childrens homes (including orphanages where child trafficking is potentially present) by strengthening provincial and local anti-HT and CP structures and mechanisms. To this end, it will work with regulatory bodies at all three levels (national, provincial and local) formed under the Childrens Act 2018 and those to be created through amendment of the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act (HTTCA) 2007, to develop or update regulatory frameworks governing child institutionalization and human trafficking. The project will also facilitate integration of regulatory frameworks at local levels. Survivor-civic engaged accountability measures will be set up to pressure government and key stakeholders for a pro-active response to ensure that childrens homes are monitored by authorities, operate under minimum standards and integrate adequate protection mechanisms against child trafficking and risks of voluntourism and all persons involved in crimes are prosecuted regardless of their status and position.
