For the Project: Village Alive 5
The ‘Village Alive 5’ project aims to reduce poverty and bring gender equality, good health and well-being to five Dalit communities in the Terai region of Nepal, together with the implementing partner Nepal Leprosy Trust Nepal. The objective is to inspire a change in community mind set along with providing clean water; improving, sanitation, hygiene and maternal and child health, and increasing income generation. It also aims to empower the most marginalised in Nepal to overcome poor health and inequality through their proven network of self-help groups. The key activities include establishing and supporting Loan schemes and income generating activities, establish and orient ward WASH committees, construction of sanitation facilities, strengthening of women’s and farmer’ groups, support sector specific sub committees to engage with Local Government for participation in local committees, and carry out education and behaviour change communication activities for improved hygiene and clean environment.
