Nepal Electricity Transmission Expansion and Supply Improvement Project

The Nepal Electricity Transmission Expansion and Supply Improvement Project (“The Project”) will consist of three components: A) Transmission system development, B) Energy Access improvement and C) Small hydropower plant rehabilitation component. The total budget is USD 128 million, out of which Component A, B and C comprises USD 99 million, USD 12 million and USD 4 million respectively. Contingencies comprise USD 12 million. ADB will provide USD 75 million, Norway USD 25 million and the Government of Nepal/Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) USD 28 million. The project period is 2012-2017. NEA will be the executing agency. Project impact is increased access to reliable supply of electricity. Project outcome is improved electricity supply. The target group is the population of Nepal.
