The project aims at significantly improving the health situation and economic independence of women in the project area and empowering them to advocate for their right and preparing them to take on leading positions in local governance bodies. The project will develop the agriculture and business skills of the farmers (mostly female) and develop new market mechanism for sale of agricultural products. The project will focus on family health, on nutrition, safe drinking water and maternal health. Furthermore, the project will continue RDTA’s well-established programme and methodology for promotion of crops and farming practices that are less vulnerable to the on-going climate change in the Himalayas
Health NepalUSD 213Kactive - Build Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health (CAPMH) System
The project aim is to further develop and consolidate the newly established system for mental health services for children and adolescents, in close cooperation with Kanti Children’s Hospital, Mental Hospital Lagankhel in Kathmandu, and with the Nepalese government. It will provide outpatient and inpatient treatment with specialists onsite, and through teleconsultations. There will be outreach work in rural areas, emergency services and training for non-health specialists and non-health actors. There is emphasis on providing girls with equal access to services, and on addressing the ways in which mental illness manifests differently in boys and girls due to the cultural context. Clinical research will be managed from the CWIN Research and Outreach Centre. The project supports PhD research and scientific analysis and publication of findings. The project specifically includes children and adolescents with permanent or temporary mental impairments, and aims to reduce their vulnerabilities, as well as the cultural stigma attached to mental illness.

The project aims at realising children’s rights in Nepal by lobbing with Government of Nepal to effectively implement policies and acts and enabling children and youth to participate in local and national development. It also contributes to the protection of the most vulnerable children by strengthening Child protections mechanisms and by providing protection, care and empowerment for children at risk. Additionally, it is improving the quality of secondary education and promoting mental health. This specifically includes children with permanent or temporary mental impairments.

Poor and vulnerable communities have improved livelihoods and resilience through enhanced income generation. The program work to ensure access to public services for vulnerable groups and strengthen civil society organisations to hold governments responsible for human rights and ensure inclusive participation of citizens in decision-making. It has measures to ensure inclusion of persons with disability in all their activities. Gender equality is explicitly promoted in the activity and girls/women’s access to services promoted. The program aims to contribute to reduced social and economic inequalities between men/boys and girls/women. It also includes climate-smart agriculture and green practices such as solar energy, improved cookstoves, forest conservation and community waste management, and work with the communities to increase resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction measures, like early warning systems, diversified cropping, and secure access to water.
