PERFORMANCE-BASED PARTNERSHIP SCHEME FOCUSING ON QUALITY PROGRAMMING, UNDERSTANDING CHANGE AND RESULTS FOR POOR HOUSEHOLDS AND COMMUNITIES

The Women’s Rights Programme in Nepal, implemented by ActionAid and eight local women’s rights organisations works with 2200 marginalised women and girls, including survivors of violence and ethnic minorities in Chitwan and Makwanpur districts to create a safer and more just society. The programme specifically aims to a) reduce the risks of gender based violence by increasing the confidence, knowledge and skills of marginalised women and girls to advocate for their rights and demand access to GBV services and pursue justice through the courts, b) improve the incomes of marginalised women and survivors of violence by enhancing diversifying livelihoods, improving business management skills, accessing markets and participating in decision making at the local and national level and c) strengthening the resilience of marginalised women and girls to adapt to climate change impacts by increasing their knowledge of adaptation practices to cope with the impacts of climate change and mobilising women, youth and their communities to demand progressive climate policies, initiatives and budgets that support women and girls. The programme also works with 900 men and boys and 500 local leaders and government officials to take action in support of women’s rights and demand accountability for violence and discrimination. . OUTCOME: Outcome 3. Women and girls have increased resilience to adapat to climate change impacts and are benefitting from increased funding for climate adapation.. SPECIFIC OUTCOME: Objective applies prinicipally to climate action and gender equality with a specific focus on adaptation measures to better cope with impacts. This includes specific local initiatives by women and youth leaders raising awareness on climate change, camapigning and greater media coverage of climate impacts.
