DFID Nepal is designing a new programme to promote inclusive growth through the creation of paid jobs in Nepal. The programme will promote activities that contribute towards structural transformation of the economy and creation of pad jobs. In Nepal, structural transformation will mean a shift in the allocation of the people and capital away from subsistence agriculture and low productivity informal work towards higher productivity activity and sectors.

The participating organisations agreed to produce a joint Flagship Report that will provide a conceptual framework to think about the economic corridors and to enable a holistic appraisal of large corridor projects. The framework will extend beyond developing transport corridors and focus on the ultimate goals of having positive impacts on national and local economic activity, jobs, inequality, gender empowerment, and poverty.

The Mugu Humla Link Road is to be implemented through RAP3. The road will connect Humla, the last unconnected district in Nepal, to neighbouring Mugu which is already connected to a strategic road. The objectives of the RAP3 - Mugu Humla Link Road (MHLR) project are to carry out the detailed engineering design and construct approximately 67 km of engineered fair-weather earth road in accordance with Nepal Rural Road Standards, including all associated stabilization and drainage works
NepalUSD 0active - Study on Assistive Technologies and Economic Opportunities for People with Disabilities in South Asia
This research would ensure six DFID country offices in the region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, India, Nepal and Pakistan) have evidence to develop programmes for improving opportunities for people.. These areas have been regionally identified as priorities. This research could also form an evidence base for mainstreaming in programmes initiatives that are inclusive of people with disabilities.

Technical Assistance to the Office of Investment Board of Nepal (OIBN) on the following: 1. Capacity support to progress infrastructure projects (of value over USD 60 million) throughput the project cycle through embedded team and experts 2. Institutional Development support to OIBN 3. Institutional Sustainability Support to achieve greater autonomy in finance and human resources For Enhancing Private Investment, we are working primarily through the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) and FCDO providing logistical and technical advisory support to the IBN. We have taken on the role of Fund Manager, Technical Skills Pool Manager, and Staff Performance Quality Assurer. We have the lead responsibility for quality assurance oversight of the use of FCDO funds including liaising with IBN’s leadership to report on the performance of FCDO-funded IBN staff and of the technical pool of short term experts.

Climate NepalUSD 0active - Project Management Unit for an Applied Research Programme into High Volume Transport
The high level objective of the PMU is to achieve cost-effective, efficient and timely delivery of the research and uptake, capacity building and knowledge management programmes for HVT. The contract split into two parts; Part 1, lasting 15 months, will involve procurement of a review of the literature and evidence available under the four identified research areas and will deliver a series of state of knowledge papers, that will be used to identify and prioritise what future primary research might be undertaken in Part 2 and its scope. A detailed research plan will be proposed for Part 2 based on outcomes from Part 1. Part 2 is expected to run for 4 years.

NepalUSD 0completed - Assessment of Sustainability and Targeting of DFID’s Water and Sanitation Portfolio, 2011-2015
The assessment will fulfil a commitment made by DFID to the International Development Committee (IDC) to establish whether the water supply and sanitation facilities established with DFID support between 2011 and 2015 are still being used. The assessment addresses specific recommendations made by the International Committee on Aid Impact (ICAI) in its 2016 review of DFID’s work in water supply and sanitation. The findings of the assessment will be used to inform on-going and future DFID programming.
WASH NepalUSD 0active - EACDS: End-Term Review of Accelerating Investment and Infrastructure in Nepal
The End-Term Review will carry out its own independent assessment of AIIN, including interviews with experts and government stakeholders. The ETR should also build on the Annual Reviews conducted since the start of the programme and be informed by the 2018 independent Mid-Term Review (MTR) as appropriate. The ETR will inform the Project Completion Report of the programme.
