AmeriCares had an emergency response team on the ground in Kathmandu within 48 hours of the massive Nepal earthquake. Our immediate priorities are to deploy mobile medical teams to treat survivors, provide critical medicines and supplies to frontline health workers, and partner with local, national and international organizations to reestablish disrupted health services. AmeriCares will work in the long term to restore health facilities, improve care quality and address mental health needs.

A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Nepal on April 25, killing thousands of people and flattening sections of Katmandu. Right now, WFP is on the ground supporting the entire humanitarian community as supplies are flown into Nepal. WFP is also facilitating the movement of relief cargo and will ship urgently needed food assistance from nearby warehouses.

HC3 is the flagship project for behavior change in the Global Health Bureau. Expected results 2024: The programme as a whole will contribute to global sustainable development. The scholarship holders are expected to use their knowledge, insights, tools and networks in the work for sustainable development where they are. Expected results 2025: The Swedish Institute scholarship programme should according to the governing Strategy for innovation, partnership and capacity development 2024–2028 strengthen the capacity of relevant actors who can contribute to sustainable development in development countries through education. A prerequisite for this is that the selected scholarship holders are qualified to carry out and complete qualitative education on master’s level at Swedish universities. After completed master’s studies in Sweden, the scholarship holders are expected to have strengthened their abilities and capacity to contribute to sustainable development. The goal of MTaPS is to enable low- and middle-income countries to strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medical products and medicines-related pharmaceutical services. The purpose of MTaPS is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance, and to advance USAID s goals of Preventing Child and Maternal Deaths, Controlling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, and Combatting Infectious Disease Threats, as well as expanding essential health coverage.
