Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a global humanitarian organisation that takes action against the causes and effects of hunger and malnutrition. AAH is composed of AAH entities from France (Sida agreement partner), India, United Kingdom, Spain, USA and Canada. Each of these members are separate legal entities, but share a common charter of principles, strategy and areas of intervention. All members of the network are committed to bringing coherence and enhancing efficiency to better serve those in need of nourishment , and to adhere to the AAH principles for which it stands. These principles are: moral and financial independence, strict political and religious neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism and transparency. The principles are outlined in an agreement (the International Global Protocols), which is signed by all AAH members. Through this contribution, Sida will be supporting AAH with funding which will allow for AAH to provide humanitarian assistance to affected population in more than 20 countries worldwide, through flexible, programme-based funding. While the specific objective of each intervention might differ, AAH's main mandate is within the nutrition sector, with the mission to "save, improve and protect lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of undernutrition, especially during and after emergency crises caused by situations of conflict, displacement, poverty, discrimination, inequality, or natural disaster". Nutrition interventions are complemented by activities which seek to ensure that people have access to clean water, food, healthcare and protection. By being present before and after disaster strikes, AAH is committed not only to respond to emergency needs, but also to build and to strengthen the capacity and resilience of the local communities. In line with the Sida humanitarian strategy, the objective of the response is to save lives, alleviate suffering and uphold human dignity for the benefit of people in need who have been, or are at risk of becoming, affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters or other disaster emergencies. AAH's long-term planning and performance monitoring process is laid out in a five-year International Strategic Plan (ISP), which is prepared by the AAH international network. The current International Strategic Plan (ISP3) covers the period 2021-2025 and reflects AAH's priorities. To meet the overarching impact of collective and inclusive action that empowers 25 million people to overcome hunger in 2025, the key priorities to be addressed by AAH are to: 1) Save lives: Lives are saved and immediate needs are met in an effective and inclusive manner in emergency contexts; 2) Collectively build resilience: People and communities are better able to withstand future shocks. Mitigation of the climate crisis and of gender inequality is embedded in the fight against hunger; 3) Connect and mobilize: Citizens, communities, civil society and actors at all levels are mobilized as part of a collective movement to end hunger; 4) Create and share knowledge: Best practice in the fight against hunger is developed collaboratively by a diversity of actors and shared for the empowerment of all. In 2024, Sida supports AAH's humanitarian interventions in 25 specific contexts including 11 multi-year humanitarian programmes and 8 annual humanitarian programmes. Sidas contribution also supports AAH's capacity to implement life-saving responses through the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) in 12 contexts (as of September 2024) as well as capacity building for protection integration and humanitarian access.

MDIF is a not-for-profit investment fund for independent media in countries where access to free and independent media is under threat. Through a fund structure, MDIF invests in media partners from startup to growth-stage, providing affordable debt and equity financing to independent news and information businesses in a range of countries where access to free and independent media is under threat. MDIF also supports its portfolio media partners with specialist technical advice and assistance. The primary purpose of the Amplify Asia programme is to strengthen the capacity of independent media in South and Southeast Asia by building their potential long-term sustainability to help them hold power to account and encourage the development of a well-informed and engaged civil society. The core components of the proposed programme are: coaching, specialist technical assistance, digital safety and security training and advice, gender mainstreaming and sub-grants. They will all be ongoing components throughout the five-year programme. The core of the programme is the provision of long-term business coaching to MDIF's media partners. While the coach works with the media partners on the development of an overall business strategy and various aspects of business development, some aspects of this require specialist help. The programme will provide this special technical assistance through the provision of the additional short-term specialist to address a particular need. The type of assistance can vary, from assistance to help with monetization of social media channels through to training on search engine optimization (SEO). Lastly, the sub-grants provision in the programme will allow MDIF to provide a modest funding pool that can be used to try out new business ideas of its media partners. These grants will be carefully integrated into the overall business capacity building work. Timeframes for the provision of digital safety and security assessments and training, as well as gender mainstreaming initiatives, will likewise be tailored to the specific needs of the media concerned. MDIF will hold an annual networking event for all media partners and their coaches and will also facilitate the participation by partners in regional conferences and peer-to-peer visits based on the needs and areas of focus of each media.

Instead, PMU, which is a member organization of SMR, has chosen to apply for grants for projects in support of civil society in developing countries from SMR, which pass on grants from the CSO grant. Prior to the current sub-agreement for the period 2017-2021, SMR has already received an offer from Sida to supplement it with an additional application for the period 2018-2019, which corresponds to SMR's assessment and recommendations for support to PMU. Subsequently, PMU has submitted to SMR with an application for a grant from SMR for the period 2018-2019. BUDGET SMR is applying for a total of SEK 122,000,000 for the two-year period 2018-2019, in addition to the already agreed amount of SEK 790,000,000. This is the same amount that the PMU applied for to SMR. SMR's total budget for the supplementary application 2018-2019 is SEK 134,551,400 (including SEK 12,551,400 in own contribution). The distribution between SMR, their Swedish member organizations and the local partners changes somewhat for the period to which the supplementary application relates. Based on the total budget for the supplementary application 2018-2019, the proportion staying with the Swedish member organizations increases from 13% to 19% and the proportion staying with the local partners decreases correspondingly from 81% to 75%. About 6% still stay with SMR. BASIS FOR PAGE ASSESSMENT The preparation has largely been based on SMR's input assessment of PMU's program application, but also SMR's organizational assessment of PMU and Sida's follow-up of SMR and PMU in Kenya, May 2017. Inom ramen för insasten ingår också annonsering av tjänsterna i Barnmorskeförbundets tidskrift Jordemodern. Insatsen är förenlig med strategin för kapacitetsutveckling och Agenda 2030 (KAPAME), i synnerhet beträffande målområdet svensk resursbasutveckling. This assignment is part of this partnership.Currently, the ADB is setting up a Project Preparation Study (PPS) named the Kathmandu Ecological Urban Renewal Project Preparation Study, set to kick-off in March 2024 and initially lasting for eight months. The PPS will promote urban environmental improvement, urban poverty reduction, climate change mitigation or adaptation, and improved environmental governance within urban areas. An ADB-Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) Project Team of consultants will be working on the PPS from late April 2024 in two stages. In this assignment, a hydrogeologist will look at feasibility and identification of NBS measures to support the formulation of next steps in the project.
