Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Project

(Nepal): The USAID/Nepal Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activity supports the Mission in planning, designing, conducting, and learning from monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of development activities. The activity is implemented by CAMRIS International, an international development and research firm with sixty years of experience in M&E across sectors and technical areas. Leveraging FY 2018 resources, MEL will support the Mission in conducting performance evaluations of the Niti Sambad, Hamro Samman, Public Financial Management Support Project, Hariyo Ban II, KISAN II and Suaahara II activities. MEL will also continue with the impact evaluation of Hariyo Ban II. The Mission is planning to roll out the Agency-wide Development Information Solution (DIS) in FY 2019, and MEL will support the Mission's DIS rollout by providing training and on-site support to implementing partners. MEL will also organize trainings for Mission and implementing partner staff on several monitoring and evaluation topics including research methods; monitoring, evaluation and learning plans; evaluation planning and management; data quality assessment; and collaborating, learning and adapting. In addition, MEL will conduct evaluations for several activities such as the baseline and endline for the Integrated Watershed Management Activity. MEL will also organize learning events focusing on cross-cutting issues such as Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, youth development, and private sector engagement. By evaluating programs to learn what is working well, these funds support State-USAID Joint Strategic Plan Strategic Objective 4.1, "Strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of our diplomacy and development efforts" to ensure lasting impact of programs and sound stewardship of American taxpayer dollars.
