Healthy Children - Healthy Communities II Participatory development of healthy livelihoods in schools and village communities in rural Nepal

The project aims to improve the health and living conditions as well as the school environment of the local population from remote, marginalised village communities and comprises four sub-objectives. The first sub-objective includes measures for village community development. Here, development and action plans are prepared in a participatory manner and adapted to the individual needs of each village community and school with a focus on WASH. The second sub-objective includes activities for construction and repair of WASH infrastructure within the village communities and at the schools. The third sub-goal focusses on improving health knowledge and healthy behaviour. To this end, various training programmes in the areas of WASH, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, first aid, etc. are organized. As part of this, the target group is also provided with materials (seeds, construction materials for latrines, reusable sanitary pads, etc.) so that knowledge can be put into practice. In addition, social structures such as womens groups in particular are strengthened in their organisational form and trained on the above-mentioned topics so that they can act as strong multipliers. The fourth sub-goal includes event formats for sustainable capacity development, networking and advocacy between the village communities and in relation to local government levels.
