Support to Resilient Auto Recovery Rasuwa District Nepal

After the devastating earthquake of 25 April 2015, Cordaid along with other Caritas organizations, provided emergency relief in Rasuwa and Gorkha, two districts heavily affected by the natural disaster. During the first six months, Cordaid focused on sustainable emergency aid. The program was then transferred to reconstruction with two local partners (Lumanti and Parivartan PATRA) and with two Village Development Committees (VDCs) from Rasuwa. In the reconstruction, much attention was paid to increasing the resilience of communities to better deal with future disasters. The aid was given directly to the people affected by the earthquake, through financial help for the houses, through training and through technical support in income activities, water and sanitation and housing construction. Cordaid was responsible for several projects, in addition to the activities carried out by Giro555 money.
