Funding under this initiative provides support for Australia's commitment to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for the Establishment of an Electoral Education and Information Centre at the Election Commission in Kathmandu Nepal. The centre will increase community understanding of the electoral process and help entrench democracy in Nepal. Australia's contribution will be used to fund and manage the construction, equipment and the first year of operationalization of the centre to support Nepal's future electoral processes. The total value of this initiative is $1.3 million expensed in the 2009-10 financial year.
