Supporting the Nepalese government in achieving SDG#6 through system-strengthening approaches.
(1) Micro level (community): The project supports WASH services in five municipalities of Saptari and Siraha districts, Madhesh Province, covering 180,367 people (37,767 households). It targets marginalized and vulnerable households, WSUCs, sanitation workers, students, teachers, and CBOs. Beneficiaries will gain from climate-resilient water supply schemes, capacity building for WSUCs and water boards, functional faecal sludge and waste management facilities, school WASH improvements, and local enterprise promotion. (2) Meso level (province & local): Five local administrations with elected representatives and technical departments are targeted. Primary targets include provincial representatives, officials from MoEIWS, MoHP, MoEC, MoFE, local government representatives, DWSSM, and district CAN. Interventions include capacity building, technical support (e.g., WASH Act implementation, NWASH MIS, guidelines, advocacy), and knowledge products for planning and resource mobilization. Secondary targets are other municipalities in the province. Direct: 130 officials, 50 private actors; indirect: 200 officials, plus broader provincial stakeholders.(3) Macro level (national/federal): Provincial and federal officials, elected representatives, parliamentarians, and development partners are targeted. WASH officials, MoWS, DWSSM, and civil society actors will benefit from knowledge products, technical support, and standards development. Direct: 55 officials, 50 civil society actors; indirect: 100 officials and civil society actors, plus the national population through policy, guideline, and investment initiatives.
