Agricultural Development: Western Uplands Poverty Alleviation Project

The overall goal of the project is to ensure more resilient livelihoods and to defend the basic human dignity of poor and socially disadvantaged people in the uplands of the far and mid-western regions of Nepal. The specific objective is to strengthen the capacity of poor and socially disadvantaged groups to mobilize their own resources (human, natural, physical, financial); gain access to external resources; and ensure social justice. A secondary supporting objective is to create an institutional framework in support of the primary objective, by creating dynamic grass-roots institutions that would be ultimately federated at the VDC and district development committee (DDC) levels.
