Empowering small holder farmers with market driven agri-food systems

"With a trade finance of DGGF Pre-finance aQysta BV will be to import goods, ginger, peanuts, mango, etc. from smallholders in Nepal. The smallholders are trained by aQysta and made market-ready. This way they can ensure quality, traceability and sustainability to European offtakers. The granted trade finance will be used for Working capital to pre-finance farmers and processors at harvest, up until they get paid some time after delivering goods at clients in Europe. aQysta was set up in 2013 and has pivoted a couple of times when it comes to their revenue model. In this period, DGGF has also financed them with Pre-finance in 2021 and in 2023. Today a large group of farmers is ready to export their goods to EU off takers with high standard. Therefore they will invest the DGGF loan to prefinance containers with goods from Nepal to offtakers (fully based on contracts) in Europe. Off takers in Europe are increasingly interested in Sustainably Sourced Ingredients from Smallholder Farmers. But quality and quantity and Traceability and Sustainability are often big issues. aQysta bridges the gap between the two: because of their long history they understand small holder farmers very well. And there is a growing good market for this proposition."
