The Public Financial Management Multi Donor Trust Fund (PFM MDTF) Phase II aims to strengthen the performance, transparency and accountability in public financial management in Nepal. In five years, the Nepal PFM MDTF envisions a country where solid foundation for credible and performing PFM systems at central, regional and local levels support economic development and service delivery of citizens. This will be achieved through the pursuit of five strategic objectives, which are convergent and support each other and underpin Government of Nepal's strategy in this regard: aA credible and efficient budget process for central government that allows for strong fiscal discipline, an allocation of resources that reflects policy priorities, a solid internal control framework (including the creation of an internal audit function), an increased performance orientation and adequate accountability, notably through monitoring, supervision and external audit mechanisms; enhanced internal and exter
