LGBT+ inclusive approaches to conflict and the WPS agenda
International Alert will create three reflection workshops in Myanmar and Nepal comprising the LGBT community, women’s rights activists and youth to reflect on their experiences, strengthen connections and build capacity between groups, and develop key advocacy messages targeting local stakeholders. Alert will share key advocacy messages with a wider national audience through radio shows in both countries and TV engagement in Nepal. Participants in Myanmar will design a social media campaign to challenge gender norms and prevent GBV. Finally, we will conduct a comparative analysis of Myanmar and Nepal to provide an insight into the deficiencies of LGBT programming to inform and improve future GBV programme design. Alert’s Gender team will also include the lessons and recommendations in its framework to counter patriarchal norms and masculinities.
