Addressing health needs in the earthquake affected population
The joint health cluster project aims to delivery essential medicines and supplies for emergency health response in Nepal in the first three months following the earthquake. WHO will procure and deliver standard emergency health kits and water quality and waste management supplies to health facilities in 14 districts. In addition, WHO will install 10 solar panels at rural health facilities where intermittent electricity is hindering emergency health care. UNICEF will provide clean delivery and newborn kits and support mobile clinics to ensure that some 290,000 children under five have access to primary health care services. UNFPA will deliver emergency reproductive health kits and equipment to support 300,000 women and youth of reproductive age.
