Building Back Safer Schools for All
The Building Back Safer Schools for All program supports Nepal’s long term recovery after the devastation earthquake on 25 April 2015. The early recovery package of support will focus on three key themes: meeting the education needs of vulnerable children, with a focus on girls and children with disability as they transition back to school, and “building back better”; rebuilding livelihoods of women and other vulnerable populations; and rebuilding social cohesion, by ensuring there is access to alternative dispute resolution for addressing disaster-related conflict, violence and exploitation of women. The program will address education needs following the April 26 earthquake through two key complementary approaches: increase urgent access to protective quality education and early stimulation for 17,700 boys and girls from birth to 18 years, 400 teachers and 1,200 parents affected by the earthquake; and support the Government of Nepal to institutionalise safer schools building for reco
