Effective Case Management by Strengthening Isolation Centers and Ground Crossing Points (GCPs) Management for Rapid Response and Preparedness against COVID-19
During the second wave of COVID-19, 13 government-designated ground crossing points (GCPs) were allocated for the entry and exit along the India-Nepal border with health desks for screening and testing. Assessments have shown that GCP management is insufficient and they lacked dedicated isolation centers, resulting in severe positive cases being sent to nearby hospitals and mild/moderate cases sent for home quarantine, risking further spread of the virus. Based on the assessment results, IOM proposes to strengthen the capacities of six GCPs and isolation centers through supporting the Governments of Province 1, 2, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim province, supporting the government in their ongoing interventions at the GCPs and isolation centers, including provision of materials, capacity building and human resources, sustainable WASH facilities and ensuring protection of vulnerable groups. Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) will be implemented for flow monitoring including at informal GCPs.
