1. Project: 12260: Women Acting Together in Promoting Opportunities for Women Empowerment and Rights (Women POWER) 2. Project area and Country: Sindhuli, Nepal 3. Project justification: Sindhuli district ranks 47 in Nepal Human Development Index 2014, mainly contributed by high proportion of highly marginalized and ethnic minority groups like Danuwar, Mushar and Majhi with significant dependency on natural resources and labour works. During the first phase of this project (2018-2021), substantial positive changes were made through enhanced vocational and business skills to the socially marginalized and economically poor women. 4. The main objective and the expected results: The overall objective of the project is to contribute to poverty reduction and promoting gender justice in Sindhuli District. As an outcome, women have strengthened capacity to promote equality and social justice through collective effort for empowerment, networking advocacy and participation, increased access to finance through establishment and strengthening women led cooperative. Sustainable income opportunities are created for women through enhanced technical and entrepreneurship skills, better market linkage and integration of Climate Action and DRR initiatives. Individuals will be reached through entrepreneurship and vocational training, career/business counselling, etc. to enhance their knowledge and skills while activities like male participation in interaction sessions, household visits by the Social Mobilizers with the message of women empowerment will be conducted at the family level. 5. Right-holders/beneficiaries: 4232 (women, school dropout adolescent girls and Persons with Disabilities; marginalized groups such as Dalit, Janajati; households with low access to basic education and health services; Duty bearers: Municipalities and Rural Municipalities, District Cottage and Small Industry office, Poverty and Cooperative section of Municipalities, Agriculture Knowledge Centre and Veterinary Hospital, Judicial Committee of local government 6.
