Sajhedari Bikaas (Partnership for Local Development)
(Nepal): Sajhedari Bikaas has expanded into twelve districts including six affected by the April 2015 earthquake as part of the USG's response, with the aim of allowing targeted communities to direct their own development. The activity will use FY 2017 resources to continue community-level post-disaster planning and reconstruction of small-scale infrastructure projects. Through technical assistance and small grants for projects reflecting community priorities, the activity facilitates participatory community development plans that consider the interests of all community members, including historically marginalized populations. The activity will work with local-level government officials and communities to model inclusive and transparent planning, budgeting, and accountability processes, responding to the needs of a newly elected local government and newly designed governance processes. Finally, the activity will support the hand-over of targeted activities to the GON for sustainability.
