Nepal Peace Trust Fund
In February 2007 the Government of Nepal established a Nepal Peace Trust Fund in order to ensure sustainable peace in the country. The overall objective of the Fund is to support successful implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed between the Government of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in November 2006. The Peace Trust Fund provides the Government a joint financing mechanism which enables the Government to channel and coordinate resources for the politically agreed key ar eas. Nepal Peace Trust Fund has had a major role in closing down the military camps of the ex-maoist combatants and in their disarmament and integration. Providing financial support to constitutional assembly elections in November 2013 will be the next major challenge for the Peace Trust Fund. Finland has provided 3.0 million euro to the Fund in 2007-2009 and made additional replenishment of 3.5 million euro in 2010-2013.
