Nepal 2026 - Action Against Hunger (ACF) 2026-2029 RRM

AAHs overarching goal is to prevent and reduce hunger among the worlds most vulnerable populations. Its mandate envisions a world free from hunger, where all individuals, children and adults, have access to adequate food and clean water, can secure these with dignity, and have the resources needed to lead a healthy life. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, while also addressing its underlying causes. This commitment is particularly critical during and after crises caused by conflict, displacement, poverty, discrimination, inequality, or natural disasters. From emergency response to long-term sustainability, the AAH network seeks to address the immediate, underlying, and root causes of undernutrition through a multisectoral approach which includes work across several sectors; Health and Nutrition, FSL, WASH, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and MHPSS depending on needs and work of other responding actors. By co-designing programmes with local communities, integrating them into national systems, and collaborating with partners, AAH ensures that short-term interventions contribute to sustainable solutions. This contribution aims to support AAH in selected humanitarian contexts where Sida has identified the organisation as having clear added value in delivering life-saving assistance. Through this contribution, Sida will be supporting AAH to provide humanitarian assistance and protection to crisis-affected communities in 17 countries worldwide. The specific objectives of each intervention slightly differ, however, the main focus remains on nutrition. In line with a multi-sectoral approach, the nutrition interventions are complemented by activities that ensure access to clean water, food, training, and healthcare to ensure a holistic approach which maximise efficiency and have the potential to reduce a deterioration of humanitarian needs. By being present before, during, and after disaster strikes, AAH is committed not only to respond to urgent needs but also to strengthen the capacity and resilience of the local communities. In line with the Sidas humanitarian strategy, the objective of the response is to save lives, alleviate suffering, and uphold human dignity for people affected, or at risk of being affected, by armed conflicts, natural disasters, or other disaster emergencies.
