LINKS - Advancing Indigenous Knowledge, Cultures and Languages through Inclusive Policies

This project supports Member States in protecting, safeguarding and promoting Indigenous knowledge, cultures and languages through collaborative research, knowledge-sharing, capacity-building and policy support. Building on UNESCO’s work with Indigenous Peoples and local communities, it promotes the transmission and revitalization of Indigenous knowledge and languages, including through the opportunities offered by digital technologies and information and communication tools. The project contributes to the implementation of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022–2032) by supporting initiatives that strengthen the visibility, use and intergenerational transmission of Indigenous languages, while fostering ethical and inclusive approaches to the documentation, preservation and sharing of Indigenous knowledge in the digital age. By encouraging inclusive policies, knowledge-sharing and collaboration among Indigenous Peoples, governments and partners, the project contributes to ensuring that Indigenous knowledge, cultures and languages continue to enrich societies and strengthen resilience.
