On Nov 3, 2023, earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 struck the western region of Nepal, specifically in the Karnali province. The epicenter was located in Ramidanda, Jajarkot district. Several aftershocks occurred, causing significant distress among the local population. These aftershocks (as of 08.11.23) have compelled residents to evacuate their homes and shelter in open areas, with experts warning of the possibility of a major aftershock in the affected areas. It was reported as 158 people have died, with 13,705 households affected and 12,060 households displaced. 9,483 houses have been fully destroyed and a further 19,286 partially destroyed.
