1. Project: 11883 Upscaling of skills training and technical education for employment programme (STEP) #2. Project area and Country: Kailali and Dadeldhura districts in Far-West of Nepal #3. Project justification: #The population of Haliyas, Kamaiyas and K amalaris (HKK) are comparatively high in the Far West of Nepal. The region has limited opportunities for unskilled youths to engage in wage and self-employment work. The project targets youths from Haliya, Kamaiya, Kamalaris and Badi communities. These com munities are considered to be the most marginalized and vulnerable groups due to high incidence of poverty, illiteracy and human rights violence. The youths from these communities are heavily migrated to Indian cities for employment opportunities or are co mpelled to engage in low paying and high risk works to generate income for their families. TVET can support these target youths from remote area to live dignified life. However, due to high demand upon TVET to youths and concentration of TVET service provi ders in urban areas, the access of quality TVET is challenge for these target groups. #4. The main objective and the expected results: #The project aims to increase awareness and access to market focused quality vocational skills training to marginalized a nd vulnerable women and youths for their gainful employment. Strengthened advocacy and partnership among TVET stakeholders will be promoted for creating income and employment opportunities for trained youths and women.#5. Right-holders/ beneficiaries: 115 youths (16 to 29 years of age), 25% will be girls and young women (no of beneficiaries in 2019- the project will end in May 2019)#Duty bearers: Centre for Technical Education and Vocational training (CTEVT), Cooperative Division, District Agriculture Offic e, Freed Kamaiya Women Development Forum (FKWDF), Integrated Development Society (IdeS).#6.
