(USAID Bureau for Resilience and Food Security (RFS)): . .Purpose: The purpose of the Surveys for Monitoring in RFS (SMRFS) is to support the collection and use of high-quality population-based survey data in USAID's Bureau for Resilience priority countries; to strengthen population-based data collection, analysis and use capacities of local organizations; and support the development of a range of innovative approaches to streamline data collection and improve data quality. . .Activities: SMRFS' primary activity is to carry out all the necessary tasks to plan, implement and report on population-based household surveys (PBS) to collect data on resilience, food security, agriculture, nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene in RFS priority countries. SMRFS will also strengthen local capacity to plan, collect, analyze and use PBS data; disseminate communications materials on PBS results for a range of audiences; maintain a state-of-the-art, step-by-step toolkit on how to implement high-quality surveys and collect and analyze key indicators on poverty, food insecurity, resilience, nutrition and WASH and make it available as a public good; provide technical assistance to users of the toolkit; provide on-demand analysis of PBS data to design streamlined data collection instruments; better understand gender and age dynamics within the targeted areas and validate theories of change; and develop guidance on alternative data collection methods when face-to-face data collection is not possible. ...Benefitting Countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nepal, Nigeria, Uganda.
