Reducing the Culture of Impunity in Nepal

The project aims to empower Nepalese actors to fight impunity in Nepal and promote the rule of law. The objectives are to improve access to justice and reparation for victims of human rights violations. In addition, the capacities of local actors providing legal assistance will be strengthened, as will cooperation between them. Furthermore, the Nepalese authorities are taking concrete steps to ensure greater justice and accountability for victims of crimes under international law. The partner organisation will represent victims of international crimes by providing them with access to justice, free legal aid through its list of selected lawyers, and representation at both national and international level. The partner organisation will expand its existing capacity-building approach and train journalists in documenting serious human rights violations and reporting on them, providing them with mentors for six months. It will work with selected lawyers to litigate important cases and support advocacy in relation to serious human rights violations.
