Youth empowerment through integrated education and training for resilience and local prospects in Kathmandu Valley

The project addresses the challenges of climate change and the lack of local livelihoods for the local youth in Kathmandu Valley. It aims to empower youth and promote sustainable, enhanced climate resilience and local livelihood opportunities in Kathmandu Valley. Through a regular offer of education and awareness programs, children and youth enhance their understanding of environmental and climate related risks and gain capacities to face these challenges with suitable adaptation and response measures. A dedicated vocational and skills development program, based on local needs and opportunities, supports vulnerable local youth and equips them with relevant technical and business skills to create income and employment opportunities at the local level. The project supports skills training in sustainable tourism and hospitality as an answer to employment and business opportunities in the project area. Capacity development of local civil society actors and close collaboration with local government stakeholders further foster the sustainable development of the area while respecting environmental boundaries and responding to the effects of climate change in the area.
