UNICEF efforts in relation to the earthquake in Nepal, 2015
UNICEF was well positioned prior to the earthquake with a regional office in Kathmandu, the presence of 20 international employees within the WASH sector and predispositioned aid equipment in Kathmandu and the southern areas of Biratnagar, Nepalganj and Bharatpur amounting to a total value of USD 800.000. UNICEF is thus well placed, not only nationally but also regionally/locally where the assistance is needed. Through UNICEF's part of the UN-appeal (USD 48,15 mio.) the organisation plans to: reach 1,7 mio. children with protection and educational efforts, offer vaccines and hospital equitement, give advice on nutrition and ensure clean drinking water and decent sanitary conditions for the population.
