1. Project: 11752 Strengthening community resilience through sustainable livelihood 2. Project area and Country: Sindhuli district, Nepal 3. Project justification: The Sindhuli area is mainly resided by marginalized and ethnic minority groups such Tamang, Danuwar and Majhi along with others caste groups. The economic and social development status of target groups (socially marginalized and ethnic minority groups) is low. Women’s engagement in social and economic development initiatives is limited regardl ess their huge contribution for family economy. Awareness of women on possible options for income generation and services available from the government agencies is very limited. The local population in the target area do not have reliable access to finance as financial intuitions are located mostly in urban centres. 4. The main objective and the expected results: The main objective of the project is to contribute for poverty reduction in remote Village Development Committees of Sindhuli district. The proj ect aims to strengthen social and economic status of socially marginalized groups through enhancing access to finance, engagement in appropriate enterprises and social empowerment. Local population, including socially marginalized groups, will diversify th eir income from access to finance, farm + off farm based enterprises and business development. Governance at local level will be strengthened and communities will access government services in line with the prevailing policies. The project will support the establishment of new cooperatives and strengthening the capacity of existing cooperatives. Furthermore, it will support vocational training and creation of sustainable linkages to profitable markets at national level. 5. Right-holders/ beneficiaries: 600 economically poor and socially marginalized households Duty bearers: 20 local institutions including cooperatives, mother groups, and other community based organizations (CBOs) and local authorities 6. Implementing partner: Sahakarya Nepal and Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Nepal (FWEAN) 7. Budget 2018: Total budget EUR 70,000
