F.a: Strengthening Diversity to Promote Unity for Strong Trade Union Movement

This project enhances the cooperation of the Confederations of Nepal, so that they can formulate joint agenda for the national labour market discussions and development. This way the decent work principles and agenda will prevail.Nepali political situation is providing problems but also opportunities for the trade union movement. Employers are pushing hard flexibility and precarious work forms and contracts. JTUCC is lobbying pro-worker provisions into labour legislation, like the right to strike and to neg otiate, and implementation of a fair social security system. Thus, the cooperation among trade unions and Confederations and strengthening their capacity and representation are very important in this volatile situation. Results of this project will be more effective lobbying of pro-worker labour policies, decent work principles, minimum wage levels, and OHS standards into national legislation. The capacity of interest representation of the trade union movement will be developed through training and the awar eness of the labour and trade union rights will be raised among workers. The main beneficiaries are Confederations, their coordination committee JTUCC, trade union activists, leaders and ultimately the workers. The contract partner is JTUCC. The implementi ng partners are the confederations belonging to JTUCC.
