Celebration of World Press Freedom Day
The guarantee of press freedom in the Preamble of Nepal's Constitution has given a tremendous boost to the media sector. However, the rights and responsibilities of the media continue to be the subject of discussions on a daily basis. The theme that UNESCO chose this year to mark World Press Freedom Day highly relevant for Nepal's present and future. Nepal's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Election Commission Nepal, the Federation of Nepali Journalists together with UNDP and UNESCO Nepal plan to jointly mark the occasion with a one-day national conference.
