A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on 25 April creating large scale damage and many casualties. According to initial estimations and based on the latest earthquake intensity mapping over 8 million people are affected in 39 of Nepal?s 75 districts. Ove r 2 million people live in the 11 most critically hit districts. The UN Flash Appeal calls for US$415 million to respond to the most urgent humanitarian needs for the next three months. Finland will allocate 500 000 euros in humanitarian assistance to the victims of the earthquake in Nepal through UNICEF.
