Nepal Health Sector Program SWAp(IHP) Phase 1
Funding under this initiative is supporting the Government of Nepal's Health Sector Program (NHSP) SWAp, in particular Nepal Health Sector Program Implementation Plan Phase 1 (NHSP IP 1). This initiative provides AusAID funding as a pooled donor supporting the NHSP SWAp which has been led by the Government of Nepal (GoN) since 2004. The NHSP SWAp supports the GoN's goal of "improving the health status of the Nepalese population through increased utilization of essential health services...". The NHSP aligns with Australian Government priorities in the health sector. Nepal was one of seven countries selected as International Health Partnership (IHP) pilot countries. The partnership aims to accelerate progress towards health related Millennium Development Goals (MDG) through improved co-ordination of donor and country activities based around national health plans. The total value of this initiative is $6.7 million over 3 years, starting 2008-09.
